The 2010 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is beautiful. It has a bit more depth and darker fruit than the 2009. Sweet spices, new leather and licorice are some of the notes that wrap around the finish. This is a terrific showing. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Korbel Natural' is a very dry, delicate champagne which exemplifies the fruit forward, Korbel House Style. Sonoma County Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, primarily from the cool Russian River Valley, gives the Korbel Natural' its unique crisp, fruit centered style. Natural' was originally developed by Adolph Heck in the early 1960s as a dry, sophisticated alternative to the sweet and awkward bulk processed sparkling wines commonly consumed at that time. Korbel Natural's crispness makes it a great champagne to serve as an aperitif, with lighter fish dishes or grilled prawns. Natural' also pairs well with dishes using fruit, especially citrus.

In western hills of Russian River Valley, small Green Valley appellation is one of Sonoma County's coolest regions. Evening fog blankets push over from Pacific Ocean to temper warm summer days. These optimal conditions extend growing season, encouraging flavor concentration in berries while soils rich in minerals from an ancient seabed infuse fruit with nuanced flavors. Fruit-forward aromas of boysenberry & strawberry jam join with spicy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla; bright acidity with smooth tannins and a lingering finish. This refreshing, fruity Pinot Noir is wonderfully versatile on the table and can be served with a wide range of foods, including pork, chicken, lamb and wild salmon.

This vintage reveals complex personality that Russian River Valley brings to Pinot Noir. In this seventh vintage, there is a complexity to aromas - red cherry, cranberry and forest floor are accented with anise, tobacco, rhubarb and cedar/cigar box oak. Elegantly structured with great length, wine is bright and focused with an acidity that dances on palate. Fruit flavors of red cherry, berry, and just a touch of cranberry are accented with barrel spice and balanced oak that is wrapped in a clean, bright, lingering acidity. This is a classic Sonoma-Cutrer Russian River Pinot Noir that will continue to evolve over time, and I am sure there are many more complexities yet to be experienced in this wine.
