Highly detailed 1/700 scale assembly model kit of the USS Hornet (CV-12), the fourth Essex-class aircraft carrier to be commissioned by the United States Navy. Original named the USS Kearsarge, CV-12 was renamed the Hornet in honor of USS Hornet (CV-8), which was struck by multiple Japanese bombers and torpedo-planes in the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands (October 26, 1942 ) and subsequently scuttled on October 27, 1942. USS Hornet (CV-12) was commissioned on November 29, 1943, and she played a major part in the Pacific battles in latter stages of World War II, including the historic Battle of the Philippine Sea (June 19?20, 1944). Dragon has put together a set of two finely detailed Tornado Gr.4 aircraft in a single kit. These aircraft have been modified to reflect the relevant upgrades given to the Gr.4, and are extremely accurate replicas of the original. Standard accessories like 1500-liter drop tanks, HARM missiles and AIM-9L Sidewinders are all present. Modelers will be pleased, however, that this set also includes new Storm Shadow missile! The aircraft come with a sophisticated and complete set of Cartograf decals, which feature special RAF markings celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Tornado.
