This wine is from South Africa, Western Cape region. A dessert wine with a South African twist. The sweet Muscat grapes have been sun dried on organic Rooibos (“Red Bush') tea leaves (a tea native to South Africa), Vin de Paille style. The idea is to gently infuse the naturally caffeine and tannin -free tea with the grapes during the drying, without adding tea to the must. 2010 Eisrebe Scheurebe has delicate aromas of apricot, candied pineapple and orange blossom. Characteristics of crushed rock and honey meld along with balanced acidity and a viscous texture lend to long-lasting and refreshing finish. Mid-gold color. Possessing a developed, cheesy, nose. Very, very sweet, amazingly so. Some miracle has been performed here. Very round and charming but with a very long finish too. This wine was difficult to spit out! Punchy and certainly concentrated. Wine Spectator rating: 92.
