Great screen and smooth OS
- internet speed
- superb screen
- sleek & slim
- it heats up when used for longer periods
The Bottom Line:
One of the coolest smartphones you can own
I've just traded in my old HTC Wildfire for a shiny new Samsung Galaxy S II and I have to say I'm really impressed by the gadget.
The phone is very thing, around 8mm so it fits very easily into your jeans without discomfort. Despite having a plastic case, the phone doesn't feel cheap since it looks says otherwise. On top of it, it's very light even with such a big screen.
My favourite thing about it is however the massive OLED touchscreen and all the benefits that come with it - high contrast, great even in sunlight and superb black. The resolution is still 800x480, so not like iPhone's, but you have great views in any angle. You can watch HD films on your phone without any pixelation.
The S II comes with Android 2.3 with means it runs very smoothly and has a better overall performance. It's just as slick as the iPhones I've been testing.
With all these features and two cores clocked at 1.2GHz, battery life is really impressive. It saves power by selectively powering down black pixels but the battery runs out pretty fast if you're taking lots of pictures. Overall, based on moderate usage, it will last about 2 days so quite decent in my opinion.
Last but not least, the internet is blazing fast, with its 21.1Mbps HSPA+ speeds. You download apps instantly and web pages are shown within 1-2s.
