Great Television Despite Low Resolution
Good picture, price, and features. A solid tv.
Assembly and mounts. Could be a challenge to some.
The Bottom Line:
Perfect for the low budget type. Great picture despite lower resolution. Great features for a lower priced television. Overall, a great buy.
My children are at the ages of 6 and 3. I bought my son the Samsung 32" HDTV LCD TV for Christmas so he can share the television with his little sister. I must admit, my budget and finances has been tight of lately, mainly due to the holidays. I feel like many of you may be feeling the same stress. Now that a few weeks have passes, I must report that I am very pleased with this purchase. Now, I will tell you everything that I know.
If you know your television statistics, you will automatically notice that this television is only 720p. I can honestly say that this numbered worries me also. Many of the televisions that you see today are 1080p. When I first thought, I figured that the picture wouldn't be that good. Although this television has a lower resolution then most televisions of the same size, it truly has a great picture. It really surprised me when I first turned it on. I talked to a friend that had the same tv and he talked me into buying it. If it wasn't for his review, I probably wouldn't have purchased it to be honest. Now that I did, I am very happy and satisfied. It has a great picture. The picture is crisp when you play Playstation3 games on it or dvd's. I haven't tried any VHS tapes on it, but my friend said that they looked rough on it. I will take his advice on that one. It also has the built in lighting. Whether your up close, on the side, or in the back, the picture is great and you really can't tell a difference in the picture due to the lower resolution. So don't let that stop you from buying this television. It nearly did for me but luckily I bought it anyway.
You can nearly control every device that hooks up to the television with your remote control. If you have a Blu-ray player or surround sound that is compatable with your television, then you can control it all with your remote. This really comes in handy if you have these devices. The remote has all your basic functions, such as power, volume, numbers, and your channel controls. Personally, it has one that I have never noticed and it is the closed caption activation button. This allows you to turn the captions on in an instant. For a remote control, it is well built. My son uses it as a sword and it has took some rough housing the past few weeks. As of now, it still works. It appears to be durable. The print on the remote control is small, but it is readable.
If you have owned a Samsung before, then you probably know where your control panel is. It is located in the front of the television. It contains your remote control sensor, channel button, source control, menu, power switch, and volume button. This does come in handy when your children constantly play with the remote and lose it. But even so, these buttons can only do so much. Without your remote, you can't access your tools, info, guides, and controls. I am fortunate that the remote appears to be quite durable.
I didn't purchase any home theatre system when I bought this television. As I said before, we needed a tv and money was an issue. This television comes with 2 built in 10 watt speakers. I have no hearing issues nor does any of my family members. Even though I don't, the sound seems great. You have a large variety of different sound levels to choose from on this tv. Now, if you are a big movie buff and you enjoy that heart pounding sound, you may want to consider getting the compatable surround sound system. This television has the SRS TheaterSound built in. For myself, it is all the sound you need. When the volume is at the highest level, I can hear it outside. If you enjoy blasting your music, it gets the job done.
This television is also Energy Star compliant. Samsung has stated that this tv exceeds their requirements. It says that this television will lower the utility bill and save power. I am still watching on the power bill so that is yet to be determined. It also states that this tv is good for the environment because it leaves smaller deposits of carbon. I thought I would state this because I know there are a lot of people purchasing "green" technology these days and believing in the concept. It may be something you want to think of if you live your life this way.
You can watch movies, view pictures, and view videos on this television. This television has a place where you can use a USB or thumb drive connector to access different media files. It has a built in menu for these options. It is PC compatable. You have one hook up for this in the back. I haven't used many of these features as of this moment, but they are included with the television. It has Samsung's ConnectShare Movie where you have access to movies. My wife does enjoy downloading pictures onto the tv for the kids. All these options are easy to access through the remote control. I haven't had any trouble finding these options and other features as well. The entire setup is quick and easy. If you have trouble getting around with other tv's, this one is simple.

I am really happy with this television. As far as the basics, it is great. The picture, remote, and sound are great. I am still trying to figure out all the other features and media features. My wife and the kids love watching movies. The ConnectShare Movie feature is great for any movie lover. I believe it is a good buy. I paid around $360 for my Samsung HDTV. The assembly process may be difficult for some people. I also had a time hanging it on the wall as well. Other then that though, I am really happy with the television so far. If anything else happens, I will be sure to report it on this review. Once again, don't let the low resolution fool you. The picture is great and the HD channels are crystal clear. I haven't had no issues with my reception. We have a cable box and we have Suddenlink. Everything was easy to put together for me, but it may give other people some problems. If you want a basic television and you are on a budget, this is the perfect choice. For those who enjoy all the extra features, it can work for you as well.
