This is the first dedicated CD collection of recordings by Linda Hayes who scored R&B chart hits, with Yes I Know reaching no. 2 early in 1953, an answer-disc to Willie Mabon s chart-topping I Don t Know of a year earlier, and Take Me Back a top 10 hit in January 1954, both rich vibrant vocals influenced by Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington, supported by energetic jump-blues combos including the Red Callender Band. Hayes also recorded one session with Johnny Moore s Three Blazers, included herein. Linda Hayes was born Bertha Williams, and is the sister of the great Platters lead singer Tony Williams. In fact Linda was the first Dish with the group, and introduced her brother to them, also recording on their first session for Federal, from which My Name Ain t Annie is included here.

An underground legend in the history of Rock 'n' Roll, Jimmy Dell is chiefly known as one half of the 'Jimmy And Duane' with Duane Eddy. The summer of 2003 saw Mary head to England and enter the studio with longtime collaborator Nick Soloman of cult icon The Bevis Frond. Entitled Baby Blue, the recordings are her first with a full on band since her days of major label national prominence and the results are heartfelt alt-country flourishes mixed with catchy soft rock in the vein of Got No Shadow. Included in the mix are a few classic rock covers--"Baby Blue" by Badfinger, which also lends it’s name to the record, and "Fearless" by Pink Floyd, each given the distinctive Mary Lou treatment. With 20 years behind them, Backyard Babies have not only developed into one of Sweden's best rock bands but also reached the rest of the world during their tattooed crusade, continually gaining fans throughout the World.
