Kingston HyperX 120GB 2.5 SATA III Solid State Drive (SSD)
Faster Speeds for Serious UsersKingston s HyperX SSD combines the latest SandForce controller technology with premium NAND Flash, reducing load times while increasing performance and endurance. It provides high-speed SATA Rev 3.0 (6Gb/s) transfer speeds for larger bandwidth, which power users require for advanced gaming, multitasking and multimedia computing power.Kingston s HyperX SSD lets users load games and applications faster, increase frames per second (FPS) and quickly transfer and edit large media files. It s cool, silent and requires less power with no additional cooling requirements. When configuring the HyperX SSD partition, the user can choose between having the maximum available capacity for data storage, or give up a little space to increase performance and endurance. This additional space is called over provisioning1 on an SSD. The amount of performance and endurance increase depends upon the type of data being stored on the HyperX SSD. The more data that is MPEG, JPG, ZIP, ARC, file types, the greater the benefit for this increased over provisioning. HyperX SSD uses an advanced wear leveling technology that distributes writes evenly across all the Flash blocks in the SSD to maximize overall drive endurance. Additionally, this ensures that the individual Flash memory blocks are consumed at a very balanced rate, not to exceed a 2% difference between the most often written blocks and least written. This enables the HyperX SSD to provide the longest possible life for the user while maintaining optimal performance. HyperX SSD is covered by a three-year warranty and backed by 24/7 live technical support and legendary Kingston reliability. Kingston rates the maximum read/write specifications as 555MB/s for max reads and 510MB/s for max writes. We actually saw slightly more than that on the ATTO benchmark so their numbers appear to be spot on. The combination of the SF-2281 controller and the ONFI 2.2 NAND is a powerful combination. There really isn t another consumer SATA III drive on the market that can claim superiority over the HyperX. At least not that we ve seen. -Joe Evans, Legit Reviews [Link] Kingston, now using the winning combination of hardware easily competes for the performance crown and as we shown here today, is one of the fastest money can buy. -Kyle Bennett, HardOCP [Link] The Kingston HyperX 240GB SSD is one impressive SSD. Everything from its competitive price to the bleeding edge performance numbers it displayed was absolutely top notch and put this drive in enviable company...When you couple great customer service with enhanced life expectancy and then add in cutting edge performance numbers the end result is simple to sum up: the HyperX 240GB SSD is a Dam Good drive. In addition, Kingston s drive costs less that many of its Toggle Mode NAND-based competitors yet still has the same long life expectancy. In a market that is quickly becoming saturated with a homogenous mass of SF2281 drives, the HyperX stands out as a beacon of innovation and takes a well-deserved place near the very top of our SSD recommendation list. -AkG, Hardware Canucks [Link] The Kingston HyperX 240GB SSD is one of the best all around solid state drive products to come across our desk to date... Performance of the HyperX is where this drive really shines as we had already stated that Kingston is only the third manufacturer (in our testing) to see their SSD surpass the all important low 4k random write disk access transfer
