I believe this is one of the best media players currently on the market. That said, there is still plenty of room for improvement in these devices.

THE "GOOD"

* Battery life – very good. 12+ hours.
* Volume produced is loud enough.
* Quality of build is good.

Cons Requires some technical aptitude to make full use
Recommended it? Yes

Don't let the title scare you; you don't have to be a linux hacker to use this device. However, you do need some technical aptitude to make good use of it. By this, I mean, if you are comfortable ripping mp3s and putting 100 of them on a CD, you have ever created a winamp playlist, you understand... Read full review »

I'm a music lover and the thought of having an entire music library, consisting of 1200 songs, is unbearable to not have. So I set out to buy one. At first, I originally planned to purchase the iPod's 20 GB player but the salesman and past experiences with friends persuaded me to get iRiver's... Read full review »

*** UPDATE *** 06/08/2004 ***

Pros All accessories included, great sound quality and battery life, feature loaded.
Cons Okay joystick interface, remote clip misaligned. Poor support from iRiver.

My first impression of the H120 (formerly IHP-120) was utter awe. This is one fantastic piece of engineering, though there are inevitably a few design quirks. The review below is fairly long because there's just so much to say about this player.

Everyone and his brother has an iPod these... Read full review »

Pros EVERYTHING, the sound, the convenience. See the review.
Cons Nothing, nothing at all.
Recommended it? Yes

Wow, wow, WOW. This little thing is incredible, it really really is. I bought this after trading in my minidisc player in search of something small and portable. I was going to get an ipod but the more I read about iriver vs ipod, and the problems ipods have with PCs and windows, and the fact that... Read full review »

What is in the box:
The iHP-120 Unit (no surprise here)

LCD Remote (allows you to keep the base unit in your pocket and still control ALL functions)
Headphones (not too bad, not the best, odd design)
Headphone Patch Cord (used to allow... Read full review »

I just want to start this review by saying that I have been a Ipod owner (10g sec. gen, 10g 3rd. gen.), something that I actually could not find when people were reviewing this product. I have been using the IRIVER now for about 2 weeks after selling my second Ipod. After seeing the shortened... Read full review »

Seizing this golden opportunity to feed the electronic nerd beast within, I quickly raced upstairs to print out the advertisement from an unnamed vendor of the iRiver iHP-120 20 GB MP3 Player.

Pros Excellent sound, FM Tuner, tons of features, lots of storage and recording options.
Cons No DRM WMA, non-replacable battery, physically bigger than typical Flash-based players.

Ok, thats a song from the Violent Femmes. Truth is I like all kinds of music, with a leaning towards the Blues like Pinetop Perkins, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, etc. I also have Tchaikovsky, the Smithereens, Butthole Surfers, Shaggy, Marilyn Manson, Janes Addiction, Smash Mouth, Green Day, Jim...
