The apple ipod is a second rate product from a third rate company.
I didn't buy the ipod, it was given to me as a free gift from my bank. But trying to make it work was still an experience of aggravation. Good Player - Bad Software
A lot has been written about the ease of use of iPods along with iTunes. But, in the case of iPod shuffle, I would say iTunes completely screws up an otherwise excellent player. Life is frittered away by detail.
I resisted buying an MP3 player for years. They're seemingly expensive for what they do & can hold, and generally strike me as being ugly & easily lost. iPods had some appeal, but the price is outrageous. Thus I would lug a discman & a caselogic full of CDs everywhere.

I purchased my Shuffle 512 in March of 2005 and it worked great until October 2005 when it stopped communicating with my computer and would not charge. Great Little Player BUT...
Beware of the switch plate on back. Second day that I had it it fell off. When I put it back on I could no longer shut off the iPod. The switch plate would not stay on, and eventually I lost it.
