Breakfast On The Go
While many people in today's fast paced society neglect breakfast altogether, many like myself, opt for a quick and easy breakfast on-the- go
Let's face it, I am not a morning person! I am all for anything that will get me out of the house and on my way to work faster, including skimping on breakfast. On weekends, when I have plenty of time, I will usually have a complete breakfast of bacon or sausage, eggs, fruit, and toast, pancakes, waffles, quiche, or french toast. However, on work day mornings, I normally eat on the run.
Most often, my typical breakfast consists of a spot of orange juice, cereal with 2 per cent milk, and coffee. With the variety of breakfast cereals on the market, I try to choose those with lower calories that are high in fiber. My current favorite is Banana Nut Cheerios, a product of General Mills. This cereal features the crispy flavor of oats, with real banana taste, which makes a very satisfying and quick breakfast on-the-go. Cheerios also come in a variety of other great flavors including Honey Nut, Multi-Grain, Berry Burst, Frosted, Apple Cinnamon, Cheerios Crunch, Fruity Cheerios, and Yogurt Burst. These cereals are not only great tasting, but are also certified by the American Heart Association, and are low in cholesterol and saturated fat. Some of my other favorite cereals include crunchy, Quaker's Life, chewy Honey Bunches of Oats, and fruity Raisin Bran.
When I am really pressed for time, I will often opt for a serving a Yoplait Yogurt. At about 100 calories per serving, Yoplait is a delicious and nutritional option for a quick breakfast. Yoplait is a rich and creamy, delight that comes in twenty five different flavors. Suprisingly, one serving of Yoplait, gets me through the morning, and satisfies my apetite until lunch time. My personal favorites include Strawberry Banana, Harvest Peach, Boysenberry, Strawberry Cheesecake, Pina Colada, and Mixed Berry. Yoplait also features active cultures that promote good digestion, and is recommended for people who are lactose intolerant.
Another of may favorite on-the-go breakfast options is Quaker Instant Oatmeal. Simply add, about 1/3 rd cup of hot water to an envelope of instant oatmeal, for a hearty, warm, and filling, breakfast that can be prepared in a manner of minutes. The handy variety pack comes in fruit and cream flavors including Strawberries and Cream, Blueberries and Cream, Peaches and Cream, and Bananas and Cream. At 2.5 gram of total fat and 2 grams of fiber per serving, and a great source of calcium and vitamins. Quaker Instant Oatmeal is another nutritional choice for a quick breakfast.
Although they may not be the most nutritional choice, Kellogg's Pop Tarts are another quick and easy breakfast solution. These flavorful toaster pastries come in a wide variety of plain or frosted flavors, and although they are not low in fat grams (about 5 per serving) and calories, they are high in fiber content. My favorite flavors include Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon and Blueberry Unfrosted.
Non-morning people like me will be glad to know there are a variety of quick and easy, time saving breakfast choices. With all of the available options, one need not sacrifice nutrition for a breakfast on-the-go.
