The 4 Best Multiplayer Games For The Nintendo Wii
The Wii is one of the best systems for gaming with friends. Here's a look at some of the best multiplayer games for the Nintendo Wii.
Here's a look at the cream of the crop--the best Wii games for playing with friends or even hosting a gaming party.
House Of The Dead: Overkill - This tongue-in-cheek rails shooter was obviously inspired by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's Grindhouse. We're not complaining; the great humor and over the top gore of House of The Dead: Overkill makes it a must own. The single player game reminds you of the days of on-rails shooters in gaming arcades, but the multi player is where things really take off. You play as two agents working their way through hordes of zombies and mutants, and it's just silly enough to work--there's a competitive scoring system, but more than anything else you'll just enjoy getting through the game with a friend for the changes that it causes in the game play.House of the Dead: Overkill is rated Mature for good reason, so don't pick it up for kids. Adult gamers will absolutely love this entry in the long running franchise.
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance - What's better than a bunch of superheroes for bringing a gaming party into full swing?
Ultimate Alliance is the Marvel game for the true RPG lover, with a surprisingly detailed leveling system and great four player co-operative play. There's also competitive play for those of you who are, y'know, into that sort of thing.
The draw of Ultimate Alliance is in its customization. Storylines are open ended and superheroes like Spiderman, Iron Man, and Wolverine can be powered up as you wish. It's great, fast, story driven action and one of the best Wii multi player titles for players who appreciate a lot of depth in their superhero games.
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground - The whole Tony Hawk franchise was getting kind of boring and tiring a few years back and the Wii's motion sensitive controls was the perfect remedy to the aging skating game's growing pains.
With the Wiimote you can pull off tricks in new, challenging ways, and the makers of Proving Ground seemed to tone down the cartoonish gameplay that was making the late entries in the Tony Hawk series a little bit too silly. As is the case with most Tony Hawk games, this one really gets some wings when you plug in the extra controllers. There are plenty of great ways to play with local multiplayers and enough depth to keep your friends coming back for months.
Super Smash Bros: Brawl - What list of Wii multi player games would be complete without the grandaddy of awesome 4 player action?
Super Smash Brothers: Brawl improves on its predecessors in every possible way. There are more characters, more balanced game play, better items, and better stages. There's even a stage builder that will undoubtedly keep you and your friends designing and playing for--and I'm not kidding here--years.
You can set up weird special brawls or team battles, and if you've got a ton of friends over, you can even get a special tournament going. This is by far the best multi player game on the Wii and one of the best in gaming period.
