Batman the Brave and the Bold Action League Wave 2
The success of the first wave of figures from Batman: The Brave and the Bold Action League has garnered attention for these two-inch minaiature figures. Wave 2 brings more characters to the light from all corners of the DC Universe. That's the beauty with a team-up show... you don't need any explanation as to why these heroes work together.
Batman and Rex Mason the Element Man
Obviously there is going to be some version of Batman in every wave of this series so why not create a different pose. This one in particular sports a batarang in his hand and poised to use it. Batman is on one knee either getting ready to strike or making a wedding proposal (the latter is more far-fetched than the former). He wears his familiar blue and grey colours with the classic oval emblem bat logo on his chest.
Rex Mason the Element Man is known better as Metamorpho in the comic books. Unfortunately he cannot be called Metamorpho in toy form due to legality issues (and you thought the Captain Marvel/Shazam was bad enough). I love the inclusion of this character but this version makes him look like a steroid zombie for some reason and it stems from his face. He also has a bulkier frame than usual but it does add variety into the whole collection. He;s definitely one that's had to miss from the pack.
B'Wana Beast and Batman
Never in my wildest imagination would have have thought to see a B'Wana Beast action figure but here he is in this collection. He's basically Tarzan with some freaky super powers that merges to animals together to create a new one. For a character with little accessories, a lot of this figure is sculpted nicely right down to the smallest detail even the couple of teeth/fangs that are showing from his mouth. This is an impressive figure for such an obscure character.
Batman is the same as the one packaged with Rex Mason except for the weapon he is holding. Instead of a small batarang, it looks like he is gripping a larger weapon, more likely his grappling line. It's a slightly different variant but a different one nonetheless.
Batman vs. Ocean Master
Mattel DC Batman Brave Bold Action League Mini Figure 2-Pack Batman Vs. Ocean Master - 12A6EC23
Batman needs arsenal to breathe underwater so this one with his scuba gear makes sense. If you didn't pick up the deluxe Batsub vehicle with thi version of Bats, then you'll probably have better success with this two-pack.
Ocean Master is Aquaman's half-brother and plots to take the throne of Atlantis from him. I love the intracacies surrounding this figure from his octopus headdress right down to the paint applications. His movement is restricted a bit because of his head piece but no one can deny that this is a great version of a character no one really cares about.
Sportsmaster vs. Green Arrow
If there ever is a villain who belongs on the Z-list, it's Sportsmaster. But for some reason, he seems to suit the Brave and the Bold line rendered in this style. He actually looks pretty good except the way his mouth is done. It feels more like a LEGO face that one that suits this line.
Green Arrow is the other billionaire hero fighting crime dressed up ala Robin Hood. The figure looks great except for the fact that he looks so bulked up. His face even has a huge chin that seems out of place with the character. In fact I would wager a bet that this is really Johnny Brave in disguise rather than Oliver Queen. Still, I love the original green and red outfit from yesteryear giving this figure much needed clean lines.
