These Things Suck
This guide is for you if you're not into spending 100's of dollars you don't have on a vacuum cleaner. I like to keep the house clean too, but rather than spend $400 on one vacuum cleaner that isn't necessarily good for all the tasks at hand, I'd rather just spend a couple of hundred on several different vacuums that perform well in their specific categories. Same dollars spent, more ground covered, and jobs well done. Besides, at these prices, when they die, you simply replace them. If you want , "A lot of suck for your buck", these are where it's at.
These Really Suck!
Eureka 4711BZ Bagless Upright Vacuum
from
$59.62
Eureka Bagless Yeah these are cheap--but if you use them only for the quick run over the carpets, and sucking down the cobwebs from those crusty old corners near the ceiling than this is a great choice. It has just the right attachments and more than enough power for the standard duties. The tapered nosel and the length of the hose are more than up to the tasks of baseboards and the many other various sundry nooks and crannies that make vacuuming a pain in the patoot. For under $60--these are mighty hard to beat.
Shop Vac-- These are the most under rated multi-taskers in any household. Wet/Dry/Indoor/Outdoor they have what it takes to get the job done. We've used them for anything from sucking up water out of the carpet from busted pipes, to sawdust off a hot and dry garage floor. They're also great for those homespun carwashes when you need a good job, but aren't sporting the $75-100 that a good detailing can run you. These pay for themselves several times over.
Dirt Devil Classic- This design has lasted for a very long time simply because---IT WORKS! For those tight little workbench jobs, getting in and around the auto, and household, these are kind of hard to beat. The one thing you really need to know about these is that "Royal Applianced" was pretty close to the edge of bankruptcy and then they came out with this. It propelled them forward, and became an iconic household fixture in a matter of months--not years. There are many, Many, MANY, reasons for that. Buy one for under $50 and find out why.
Electric Sweeper Really Bernie?!--REALLY??!!! Yes I say. There are times when you need more than a broom and less than a vacuum. You're too tired to haul out that heavy clunker of an upright, and sweeping with an old whisk broom holds even less appeal. These are so good for that quick and easy cleanup of a slightly dusty gritty floor, and a spot run over the carpets. You'll get the job done so easily you may even wonder how you ever got by without one. I really wanted to hate the one we bought when we bought it, but it has turned out to be an excellent purchase.
