Best products and ideas for growing THICKER and LONGER hair!

For many reasons hair becomes thin. It can be from a disease (like an auto-immune disease such as thyroid disease), cancer, fungal infection, lack of vitamins and it can even be genetic and there are many more possible reasons hair falls out for periods of time. I prefer natural ways to help grow thick, and long hair, so I find supplements and other tricks that aid in that. The supplements that I list, help to grow long, healthy hair, which has worked for me several times in the past.

1. Take some sort of B-Vitamins. Stress can even make hair fall out and B vitamins help combat stress. One way to get B vitamins is from a natural source, one in particular that comes in mind is YS Organic Bee Pollen Granules. This comes in a 10-ounce container that you don't need to refrigerate. This has all the good stuff you need in just 1/2-1 Tablespoon per day. The granules tastes sweet kind of like sweet honey, but in solid form. This way you can just eat it off the spoon daily. These have essential amino acids our bodies need, enzymes and B vitamins. All the perfect things needed to grow healthy hair. A 10-ounce container costs $6.65 from Vitacost.com

B-stress vitamins can also help such as Twin-Lab Stress B Complex.

2. Make sure you are not lacking any vitamins. If you are lacking Vitamin D (which you can get checked by your physician), which many of us are in the upper States, then your hair can fall out from lack of it. Once you replace with D vitamins, hair will stop the falling out process (once your levels are normal). It's importanted to get it checked and to ask your doctor the right amount to take. I take 5,000 IU's a day, personally for where I live (in the Northwest). Carlson has some great Vitamin or Country Life brand vitamins. Country Life has little softgels that come in 1000 IU's, 2500 IU's and even 5000 IU's. They are easy to take and super affordable (Vitacost.com). I have tried many forms of vitamin D (even drops) and Country Life or Carlson brands seem to work well. Hair can stop falling out if hair loss is due to vitamin D, once levels are normalized.

3. Try a hair, skin and nails-type vitamin. Another product to help hair is to buy a hair, skin and nails vitamin, and my favorite is Maxi-Hair by Country Life, 90 tablets (take 1-2 per day) is around $10-$15 (vitacost.com) depending on where you buy them. This vitamin provides B vitamins, Iodine, MSM (sulfur), Horsetail extract, and minerals and helps grow thick hair back quickly.

4. If your hair is dry and falling out due to dryness, psoriasis and possible fungal reasons, then 100% pure coconut oil treatments on the scalp is helpful (or coconut oil mixed with tea tree oil). Vitamin stores online have coconut oil for sale, and I prefer 100% extra virgin (and organic). This is good for the scalp in treatments, try 1x per week to melt a little coconut oil and rub onto scalp. Wash out after leaving on for at least 20 minutes. You can also do a combination of a few drops of tea tree oil by Desert Essence (a natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterial). Both of these are affordable, the tea tree oil is $10.31 (vitacost.com) for 2 fluide ounces that will last for a long time (a couple/few drops goes a long way because this is strong- as you will smell). You can also add tea tree drops to your shampoo. It helps make your scalp tingly. Coconut oil comes in various brands and sizes and various prices, depending on how much you want to try. If you try a small container by Jarrow, you can get it as low as $7 for 16 ounces.

If breakage is an issue because of your hair being over-dry or dying/bleaching or too much sun, try a keratin (protein) shampoo and/or conditioner such as Mill Creek Organic Keritan Conditioner.

5. Try Changing your shampoos and conditioners: try Desert Essence Organic Coconut Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. These are organic and very moisturizing. Avalon also sells very good brands of shampoo and conditioner. Mill Creek brand also sells Biotin-type shampoos and conditioners, which is a B-Vitamin and may help hair growth.

Additionally: Make sure that a food allergy or sensitivity isn't causing it (like gluten or milk) by getting tested or try rotating these out of the diet and seeing your doctor. If you suspect a disease, then you need to get tested by your doctor, as well. These are just a few tips to help start re-growing hair naturally.
