Awesome Oils for multi-purposes uses such as massage oil, scalp treatments and more!
These oils are often used for cooking or baking, but they are also used for no-food uses such as massages (as massage oils), hot oil treatments, intimate lubricants, eczema, dry skin and more! Here are some great oils for non-food uses!
Coconut Oil- Some great brands are Nutiva (Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil), Jarrow (Organic Extra Virgin and Extra Virgin or just Virgin), NSI Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Vitacost brand) and Nature's way are just a few great brands. Prices and sizes of coconut oil vary and the scent is always light. Coconut oil is great to help keep yeast off the skin and as a bacteria fighter as well.
Coconut oil can be used for (non-food uses); chicken bumps on upper arms, dry skin (all over), hot oil treatments for hair (20 minutes to overnight), some people use it on their face (as skin moisturizer), leg moisturizer and dry areas (like elbows), personal lubricant (intimate, but do not add scent/fragrance to it), natural lip moisturizer, massage oil, add to lotions and liquid hand or body soaps for extra moisturization. You can use it as a balm of sorts and slather on feet with soaks over top (overnight). Overall, coconut is awesome as an oil for almost anything you can think of!
Grapeseed Oil-This one is great for body massage oil. You can add scent or skin-safe fragrance oil (or essential oils that are safe for the skin). This is inexpensive at 16 ounces for $6 (vitacost.com). This can be used all over the body (unscented) and in roll-on bottles for lips or face for dry skin. You can add and mix extra in your lotions for more moisturization or use straight on legs (for super moisturization).
A great brand is Aura Cacia for 4 ounces it is $3.00 (vitacost.com) but for massage oil, I like to order more so they have 16 ounce bottles for $8.71. It can go rancid after about 6 months, so be sure to use it up and store it away from heat and light. I would not cook with it! Heritage Products is also a GREAT brand!
Jojoba Oil (really a wax)- added to shampoos for extra oil for dry scalp, dry facial skin, flaky areas of face like nose corners and eyebrows, eyelash moisturizer, dry ear areas (from psoriasis or eczema), lip moisturizer, and as makeup remover (gentle and does not hurt eyes). Desert Essence is my favorite brand in organic or regular, but Trader Joe's also has an inexpensive version (under $5 per 4 ounces). Regular 4 ounces costs around $7-$9 and organic is more expensive (by a couple to a few bucks).
Sweet Almond Oil- This is great as a body moisturizing oil or all-over massage oil. I also like to add skin-safe fragrance to roll-on bottles with this and use it as a moisturizing perfume oil. It can go on lips and body skin. Heritage Products sells 16 ounces for $6.46 and Aura Cacia sells the same size for about $4 more (Vitacost.com).
All the products mentioned are natural and have no added crazy ingredients or preservatives. These are better for the skin! You can also try adding fragrance like aura cacia's essential oils like peppermint oil, just make sure you use the proper amount and not in sensitive areas of the skin/body.
