Organizing Your Home Office

Organizing your home office can either be a pain in the rear or an ah ha moment, I will actually find what I need.

If you are like me and have a desk that doesn't have drawers or anywhere to store anything you need you will want to check out the items I have chosen to organize me.

My desk does have a shelf to put my printer on and another little shelf to put my lamp and phone and the rest of the desk has my laptop and that is it.  I have to hunt for for pencils and pens, tape and other items that aren't stored on it.

Now it's time to start setting up your filing system.  If you are going to use it for a tickler then you need to set everything up by date, don't add the month because when you pull the document out you will be able to see if it is for the present month or further down the line.

This does have two sectons in this rolling cabinet.  You use them for whatever you need to have on hand.

The electric hole punch and electric stapler are a must for using and not taking up a lot of room on your desk.  They can sit in a corner of the desk until you are ready to use them.  Just make sure you keep little hands away from these or they could get hurt.  I do feel it would be hard to get a finger in the working area, but with kids you never know.  They can do things you would never dream of.

Once you get this setup and you are using it, you may find that you need something else that you need, go for it so that you can be organized and ready to go.

Electric Stapler

An electric stapler is a must have in any office.  These don't jam as bad as a regular stapler and can staple up to 15 pages where a regular stapler can't do this.  You would need a second one for stapling if you use a regular manual stapler.

This can run on electricity or on batteries.  I have done both and if I'm going to be using for a long period of time I plug it into a wall socket so I won't run out of power before I'm done.

Electric Hole Punch

What a space saver this Electric Hole Punch is.  This particular hole punch can punch two holes or three holes so that eleminates the need to have two seperate punchs.  This punch runs on electricity or batteries which I find is great.  If you are too far from an electrical outlet you can still use this for punching.

The punch can put holes in up to 15 sheets.  You can't do that with the little black two hole punch that a lot of offices have, they bend before the job is done.

Rotary Desk Organizer

This is one of the first things I purchased or my desk.  Since my desk isn't large I needed a place that was compact and was able to store a lo of little things.

The Rotary Desk Supply has a tape dispenser, you can store your pencils, paperclips, scissors, Post-It notes and a lot of other little items  you will need.  The storage container can move in circles so it makes it very easy to find what you are looking for.

Desk Pad Calendar

A Desk Pad Calendar is a must have.  You can easily see the dates and you can add your appointments, people you need to follow up on.  Little notes about the family

It is so easy to use.  You are looking down more than you are looking up so you will see the dates and notes to keep you up to date on what you have to do.

I think these are wonderful for daily work use or if you just want something at home.  You can mount this on the wall and this way your family can write in the times they have to be somewhere on the date.

Rollaway File That Locks

This is great for a home office filing system.  Once you put the divider tabs in and label them, you can then put your files in it, even if they aren't legal size.

The lid closes and then you can lock it so you can keep your files neat and orderly and not have to worrk about someone getting in there and playing around with the files.
