Childproofing products that really work

Some parents start childproofing before the baby is even born while others take a wait and see approach.  Parents may consider hiring a professional, but most parents are finding that with some common sense and some tips from the real professionals (other parents) they can find just the right childproofing products for their home without a big ticket price.

Kid tested and Pediatrician approved childproofing

The Cardinal Gate VersaGate is just that - versatile! Not only can you add extensions to the gate making it bigger, but you can also change the configuration.  Pads on the bottom keep it in place so it doesn't slip slide away like many other pen gates that sit on the floor.  The wide door makes it easier to get baby in and out and the quality construction means it will last for a very long time.
Rhoost Edge Corner Protector is a soft "cushion" protecting your crawler and toddler from the furnitures sharp edges. What sets this corner protector apart from all the others?  It uses a strap instead of an adhesive so there is no damage to the furniture, or your child's tender head.
Kids Edge Hearth Pad (available in assorted colors) protect baby not only from the sharp corners of your brick fireplace hearth, but it is easy to install, fits any size hearth and protects baby from all the sharp edges of the hearth, not just the corners.

Childproofing products for every room

Safety First Cabinet Locks uses two plastic cords with "teeth" that are adjustable, making it easier to install even on cabinets where the handles are spaced far apart.  They are versatile, and can be used in any room in the house from the kitchen to the bathroom or any other place you have cabinets- like the entertainment center.  They are inexpensive and effective at keeping baby out of any size cupboard.
Safety 1st Oven Locks is a two piece plastic hinge that resists 33lbs of force making it almost impossible for your toddler to pull on the oven door handle and open it, but also easy enough for a parent to use. It's inexpensive and effective at avoiding painful burns.
Some outlet covers actually rate among the top 10 items that children choke on. Many parents by the cover that are just inserted into the outlet. Many children quickly learn how to remove it, risking a painful burn while others put it in their mouth when finding it.  How do they find it? Parents put them down after pulling them out to use the outlet. With the Safety First Swivel Outlet Cover  your child is safe from electrical burns and shocks, and you still have an outlet that you can easily use with just a twist of your wrist.
Once children learn how to open that bedroom door, privacy is gone in the parent's bedroom. But walking in on mom and dad isn't the only danger if a door knob doesn't have an cover.  Children can enter bathrooms, laundry rooms or even take a tumble down the basement stairs without the Child Safety Door Knob Covers that adults can easily use and toddlers can't.
Nothing takes the place of adult supervision but using some basic childproofing products throughout the house can give parents a little peace of mind and keep your child safe and sound and out of trouble.
