Grain is usually straight to slightly wavy, and the texture is coarse, uneven and oily to the touch, sometimes with a white glistening deposit. Woodworking properties include medium resistance to cutting tools. Predrilling is required for nailing. Gluing is good on freshly planed or sanded surfaces. Stains well and takes a satisfactory finish, especially an oil finish. Fine machine dust is a skin irritant.Burmese Teak is used extensively in shipbuilding and boatbuilding for decking, rails, hatches, etc. Other uses include furniture and cabinetmaking, flooring, garden furniture, chemical vats, fume ducts, laboratory benches, plywood, and decorative veneers.

This manufactured material is fantastic for shop-built auxiliary tables, fences, jigs and fixtures. It is dimensionally stable and has protective surfaces that will stand up to the harsh wear and tear of your woodworking shop. Glued together with exterior glue, the birch plies are sandwiched between a top and bottom layer of phenolic- impregnated birch ply. Phenolic-Faced MultiPly can be machined with standard woodworking tools and has great screw-holding capabilities. With its attractive brown color, this material could also be used in furniture construction where toughness is a requirement. Sheets are 24 x 48, +/- 1/4, with face grain running with the longest dimension. Note, color may vary. Please measure each piece carefully before starting any project. Plywood sizes are nominal... (I used Baltic birch for the shelves, but you can save money by substituting hardwood plywood.) The connector nuts and cross dowels not only lock the shelves to the posts but also make it easy to disassemble the pieces and transport them to the grandkid’s house.Depending on your clamp collection, assembling the pencil posts...
