Pros Compact camera size with large lcd screen, Incredible battery life.
Cons Can't think of any.

My wife and I bought this camera right before our wedding. This is our 8th digital camera. Before purchasing I assumed that all digital camera's eat battery's after about 20-50 pictures taken. I was always so disappointed with digital camera's until we bought the SD1000. We took almost 350 pictures... Read full review »

Pros Price, picture quality, durability
Cons shutter could be faster. Digital zoom does not make for the best pictures.
Recommended it? Yes

I needed a highly portable digital camera to substitute for my larger Canon dSLR. I didn't need anything fancy, anything expensive, nor did I need the latest technology. I wanted a great picture, durability and price. I found the PowerShot SD1000.

For $169.00 new out of the box, the... Read full review »

The past two cameras I have owned have been Kodak. I had my last Kodak for only a year and it broke and they wanted over $100 to fix it, which was crazy. So, I asked for a camera for Christmas.

I did my research and decided on this one as it has gotten great reviews from amateurs and pros... Read full review »

Cons Redeye in flash pictures; Flash weak; Lag after flash; Needs a more grippable right front.

I bought the Canon SD1000 (also known as the Ixus 70) because 1)I wanted something that would fit in my shirt pocket or equivalent and which I would always carry, 2)it got good to excellent reviews from experts, and 3)I have two A-series Canons that have been superlative.

I am not... Read full review »

Pros easy to use, compact and light
Cons night shots can be blurry and multiple shots in quick succession not possible
Recommended it? Yes

If you can still find this camera on sale, it's got all the same features as the newer SD850 (except a slightly smaller LCD screen) but is much cheaper. Consumer reviews all had this camera at the top of their lists which means millions of consumers can't be wrong (and they did their homework too... Read full review »

Cons menu system, viewfinder easily scratched

I am a Canon guy. My first camera was a TX, followed by a T80, with all of the interchangeable lenses that go along with them. This is my first Canon digital camera.

I purchased this camera for our summer vacation. I put a premium on a small form factor, with ease of use. This camera was... Read full review »

I have been using Canon cameras for 20 years. This little camera is my third Elph, and I have loved every one. Of course, with time and technology change, this one is the best so far!!!

I received this camera as a gift after losing my last Canon Elph. My first Elph, purchased 8 years ago,... Read full review »

Pros Very small size, durable metal body. Fast startup and focus.
Cons It lacks image stabilization.

I've had the Canon SD1000 for about four months now, and I carry it with me almost all the time. The camera is tiny, smaller than a deck of cards, and the case is matte finished metal that stands up well to wear. The small size makes it easy to stash in a shirt pocket for quick use. Despite the... Read full review »

I brought this camera for our family for Christmas. Our 1st digital camera. I had a 35mm Nikon 1000 which was 20 years old but a little to heavy to carry around. This camera takes great clear crisp pictures. A lot of functions for the price. What is nice there are two guides one for basic operation... Read full review »

Cons Noticeable chromatic aberration, higher than expected noise, image quality is not as good.

I have been an enthusiast of digital cameras since they appeared in the market. I personally owned several Canon cameras including the A50, A40, A60, A520, and now the SD1000. I still have the A50, and the A520, but wanted something portable to actually carry in my shirt's pocket.

I have... Read full review »

Canon PowerShot SD1000 7.1MP Digital Elph Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Silver)

Canon looked to the very first Elph for inspiration when designing the PowerShot SD1000 Digital Elph, and came up with a quintessential iteration of the icon: slim, clean-lined and fully flat. Inside, the SD1000 Digital Elph looks only to the future: 7.1 megapixels, a 3x optical zoom and advanced DIGIC III ensure top-quality images, while focus is fast and sharp and red-eye is automatically corrected. The large and more colorful LCD screen now has a tough, anti-reflective coating that makes it as durable as it is beautiful.
