Plenty of Space for your Music
Vast space, fair price, no click wheel issues
No bass, Genius feature for older music
The Bottom Line:
This iPod is worth every penny just on the 160GB space. Great quality product and durable. Pefect for any music lover.
I know this now is considered an older iPod, but I thought I would write about it because I believe the older version made people afraid to buy this one. In fact, I know I was. I have had the Apple iPod classic 7th generation black for over a year now and I am still very pleased. Overall, I am very satisfied with it. I know it is an older model now, but it is still a high quality product. It is still up to date with technology and it is a great iPod. Here is what I know.
One of the best features on this iPod is the space. When you purchase an iPod, you want plenty of space to download your music, videos, and your pictures. This 7th generation iPod has all the space you need. The Apple iPod classic 7th generation iPod comes with a 160GB hard drive. For those who don't understand what that means, it gives you plenty of space to download files. I have had this iPod for over a year. I listen to it all the time at work and when I walk. Sometimes, I download 20-30 files a day. I still have plenty of space on my iPod. It is perfect when it comes to file space. It also has the ability to double the external drive, which is a handy feature if needed. This comes in handy for anyone using large files and taking up space. Even so, I have yet to use any.
I have yet to have any issues with the speed of my iPod. I was somewhat afraid that the speed would slow down as I filled up space, but it hasn't effected it at all. My last version was slow compared to this and it would act up when space was being used. It is still running like it is new. I haven't had any delays when downloading music and other files.
Apple once again failed to improve the look of this iPod. It is nearly identical to those of the past versions. Even so, it is still a slick design. You can choose black, which is what I chose, or silver. This iPod is thin like others and very easy to store away in a pocket. This iPod comes with WiFi, which is great for anyone that has access to a good connection. You also have the app store, which allows you access to all kinds of different applications. iTunes is a must and this iPod is capable. It has all your basic iPod features as well. You have access to videos and pictures as well. This iPod has a feature called "Genius". This is a cool feature. It allows similar music and genre to pop up when you search for a song. Similar songs will appear when your search has been conducted. This is a good feature when you are trying to find new songs from the same artist, genre, or style.
This iPod has a new interface compared to the older version and it is much easier to find your way around. Everything is easy to find and you should be able to learn it all in a short time. Even if you are a new user to this type of iPod, you shouldn't have much trouble locating all the cool features.
When it comes to the sound, I am torn and I will tell you why. I think the sound quality is good, but not great. It seems to me that there is very little bass. If your listening to a song that bumps, such as rap, you just don't get the best of that beat. Other then that though, it is clear and sounds good. I would describe the sound of this iPod as basic. And yet, it is still a quality sound. Just missing some bass.
This iPod has a great battery life span, much better then the older version. I can listen to music for 10 hours or more on just one charge. It seems to be better then average iPods. It just depends on how much you use it. Even if your playing videos, you get a long life span of around 6-8 hours.
Personally, I had some major concerns before I decided to buy this iPod. In fact, if it wasn't for a friend, I wouldn't have bought it. I owned the older version and I had all kinds of trouble. The click wheel was junk. I owned the last version for less then two months and began having click wheel issues. Not only that, I had constant blackouts also. I told myself that I wouldn't own another one and I feel like other people may be thinking about the same thing. The Apple iPod 7th generation black is a much better product and I haven't had the first issue on this one. Don't let it scare you away from a quality iPod.
Another issue that I have came across is trying to find older music on iTunes. If it is a popular artist, they always pop up after the search. But if it is a new artist or older song, you don't get many hits. My older one didn't have this issue. I don't know if it is iTunes or my iPod to be honest. If you prefer older music, this is something you may want to think about.
Overall, I think this is a quality product. It has been great. This is perfect for any music lover that downloads and listens to music all the time. It is great for a part time music lover as well. I would receommend it to anyone.
