Should you read Watchmen?
If you have anything to do with comic books, I'm sure you've heard about the Watchmen. You may have even heard about it from the movie. I'm not here to talk about the movie though. I'm here to tell you why you should read the graphic novel.
So this is the story of what the world might look...

Watchmen ? The Pinnacle Tale in Superhero Storytelling
Actor Christopher Lee once stated, when he was on the set making The Lord of the Rings movies, that he made it a yearly ritual to read J.R.R. Tolkien's epic trilogy. I find myself in the same position when it comes to Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen.
I have always been hesitant when...

One of the BEST novels of any genre!
This is absolutely without question one of the best stories of any genre that I have ever read. I literally walked away from the last page saying "I can't believe he DID that" (alluding to the spectacular ending) This book is a thriller, so say the least. The art is very detailed and... Who Watches the Watchmen
Witness the deconstruction of the graphic novel as Alan Moore envisions a group of superheroes plagued by human frailties. A thought provoking story that does more than entertain. Read full review »

The Greatest Superhero Story Ever Told
Once upon a time, superheroes were infallible. They always defeated the villain, always did the right thing, and everybody trusted them. Then, in the early 1960's, Stan Lee of Marvel Comics decided that he wanted to write about superheroes that he (and many other people over 10) would actually... Read full review »
Watchmen on the eve of the movie release
I'm so glad this was the first Alan Moore graphic I read, It had it all, action suspence, even a tryte bitof romance. set in a post cold war era. it shows an altenate view of superhero culture, while darker a little more honest in my opinion.
I didn't read V for vendetta, before I saw the...

On Friday Night, a Comedian Died in New York
Throughout the history of comic books, the stories created by writers often excited its fans though many felt that comics weren't taken seriously. While writers would create lengthy series of comics to match a single story or plot line that would eventually become the form of the graphic novel...

A most compelling argument for the benefits of recycling!
So, say you're DC comics. It's 1985, and you just acquired an entire line of characters from Charlton Comics, but you haven't an in the world to do with them. It'd be a shame to let them go to waste....OH! Hey, remember that British dude that did Miracleman? Wasn't that a rehashed character too?... Read full review »
Alan Moore's Watchmen: The Story that Changed Comic Books Forever
Travel back in time with me to 1985. Tricky Dick was still president--during his fifth term of office. The Soviets were on the verge of invading Afghanistan and Western Europe, held in check only by the world's one true superhero, the naked, blue-skinned Dr. Manhattan.
Well, actually, in...

Who watches the Watchmen?
I haven't read any comics for ages. Four days ago, I went to the store, and I saw a giant box set called Absolute Watchmen. The smiley face with the blood on it really caught my attention. The box claimed that it was one of the best comics ever. I didn't want to spend $75 for this version of it so... Read full review »
POTUS W/O: Nixon and Rohrshach are the real heroes of Alan Moore's "Watchmen".
I found out earlier this month about lorendiac's write/off on the American presidency. Determined to make a contribution, I went to the video store and slowly went through all the "Drama" titles. I considered renting "Amistad," "Megiddo: Armageddon 2" and "The Pelican Brief," in each of which at... Read full review »
Totally Engrossing
I don't usually read comic books and graphic novels (with the exception of Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" books), but I have to say that found "Watchmen" to be absolutely riveting. I first heard about this book on a History Channel special about comics. It sounded interesting, so I thought I'd check it... Read full review »
Watchmen, by Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons
What if you could change the world? What if you could unite the planet in a common goal and put an end to war? What if you had to kill 3 million people to do it?
Let me start at the beginning, or as close to the beginning as I can.
In 1938 a costumed adventurer appeared on the...

First Impressions
**************
I?ve never really been into comic books or graphic novels, whichever title you choose to give them - if you do indeed believe that the two are separate. Sure, when I was a kid, I enjoyed the occasional Spiderman comic but the adventures were continuous...

Who's Killing The SuperHeroes In Nixon's 1985 America?
I'm a confirmed DC Comics man. While that means nothing to most of you, hopefully, let me explain: There are two major comics companies out there: DC Comics, whose stable of characters includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, The Justice League etc... And Marvel, whose... Read full review »
Alan Moore transcends the comic genre...
I have this place that I go to when I want to buy graphic novels, Paradox Comics, and my mate Dan works in this place. To me, it is like Heaven, seeing all of these wonderful graphic novels on the shelves... and one of the recommended ones he told me about was Watchmen by Alan Moore.
Now,...

The joke's on us.
Alan Moore's story of "real life" super-heroes is just as pertinent today as it was when it first appeared during the cold-war Reagan era, a time when people were a bit more nervous about huge nuclear stockpiles than we are today. This graphic novel is not just for those that enjoy comic books it... Read full review »
Its a really good comic book!
I borrowed this book off a friend since it costs quite a few pennies, I'd hear him bragging about good it was and how Alan Moore was the best comic book writer ever, to tell the truth I didn't believe him till after I read this piece of artwork.
Watchmen is a story about a group of super...
