Predictable Rumble and gruesome Mae Young hurt but it's saved by other great matches.
Royal Rumble 2000: January 23, 2000 from Madison Square Garden, New York City
Commentators: Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler
I rate each match on a scale of 0-5 stars, 0 being the worst and 5 being the best.
Kurt Angle vs. Mystery Opponent
Angle comes out and for near 5 minutes he...

The McMahon Helmsley era lives!
This PPV marked the beginning of an era where the WWF would enjoy huge success for the next 18 months. When you watch this video and compare it to the current WWE product that we see today you will clearly understand why.
Tazz vs Kurt Angle. This match was terrific. Many people complain...

Barbed Wire Ballet?
Paul Levesque's climb to the top of the wrestling volcano had never been an easy one. Billing himself as Hunter Hearst Helmsley, his British snob character seemed destined for obscurity. Wrestlers such as Steven Regal, Chris Adams, and Lord Alfred Hayes before them, learned that it didn't make the... Read full review »
Another Great Rumble
Royal Rumble has always been my second favorite PPV (next to Wrestlemania of course). This one isn't the best, but it's far from the worst. The Miss Royal Rumble Pageant was great until Mae Young showed up and revealed her "puppies".
That was a moment that has scarred me for life. The opening...

Still holds strong after repeated viewings
Two and a half years after its initial broadcast, WWF Royal Rumble 2000 still holds strong today. Here is my opinion of the matches:
Tazz vs. Kurt Angle: Short, but good contest that established Tazz as a real threat (too bad nothing came of it).
Hardy Boyz vs. Dudley Boyz: This match...

Let ';The Game'; Begin
Triple H is regarded by many within the wrestling industry as the best performer today. A strange hybrid of the ferocity and inner rage of ?Macho Man? Randy Savage along with the professionalism and dedication of ?Nature Boy? Ric Flair, Hunter Hearst Helmsley is that missing link between the best... Read full review »
Tables, 2x4s, What more can you ask for?
I hope some poor sucker is reading this, because i'm not doing this for nothing. Now, to the matches:
1st match: Tazz vs Kurt Angel. Angle comes out to his ring music and cuts a promo. Big pop for Tazz. Brawling in the ring, many suplexes. The finish: Tazz does his version of the sleeper,...

Lost In the Shuffle
-Live From Madison Square Garden.
-Your Hosts are Good Ol' JR and the King.
-Opening Match. Kurt Angle vs. Tazz. This is the debut for Tazz in the WWF and he gets a huge pop from the ECW regular crowd. Angle is still riding the undefeated streak here but he gets manhandled by...

Oh my God! Not the puppies!
Royal Rumble 2000 and the WWF rolls once more into Madison Square Garden. It may be one of the least appropriate venues in the world for a wrestling event, given its claustrophobic seating arrangements and lack of space for a decent sized entryway (with the competitors emerging from a sort of... Yuck...No more swimsuit contests
I can summarize this review quite quickly. The main event, Triple H vs. Cactus Jack, was an awesome match. That's the kind of hardcore wrestling that everyone needs to see every once in a while. The Rumble itself was, predictable, I suppose. Rock taking the win was quite depressing, even though we... Read full review »
Royal Rumble 2000: DVD Version
I will rate every match according to the wrestling, drama, pace, story and finish of the match. But my final Epinions rating is solely on the entertainment value of the Pay-Per-View itself.
The Royal Rumble is my favorite PPV of the year. It's not always the best PPV of the year, but it's...

A Royal Show
I saw this a very long time ago, considering the Royal rumble was well over a year ago on the day I write this. But, I recently saw the video. This was one of WWF's best PPV'S of 2000, maybe the best of all. I'll do a match-by-match review.
ANGLE VS. TAZ(z)= Really a big moment, because...

Two awesome matches carry the show
Kurt Angle vs Mystery Opponent
Kurt's pre-match promo was okay, but very generic. What we see here is basically the Kurt Angle character in its infancy. The mystery opponent is Tazz, who is debuting since leaving ECW. Angle is still very green and it shows in this match. He looks a bad in a few...

WWF is PPV royalty
Well the WWF claims to do PPV like no one else. Do they? Yes, They are simply the best. Royal Rumble 2000 was one of the best, if not the best, WWF event of the year. It is filled with intense competition and memorable moments.
The introduction of Tazz to the WWF when he took on Kurt Angle was...

An Evening Almost Shot To Hell By Mae Young & The Rock!
I, being a loyal wrestling fan for over 10 years, have always loved the night of the Royal Rumble. Some of the best matches of the year happen at the Royal Rumble PPVs. But, this year fell short to the annual standards that I was expecting.
The first match of the night was Kurt Angle...

A Wrestling Expert's View of Royal Rumble 2000
Now this is what I am talking about. After a two week wrestling layover, I finally get to be the first person to write about a wrestling pay-per-view, and it ends up being one of my recent favorites. The higher-ups of epinions are smiling down on me today. Cheap Plug: READ SHAWNMFAN1'S WRESTLING... Read full review »
