Constantly loses connection. Constant headache. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS piece of garbage. I have spent too much time trying to fix it and am ready to exact my revenge on it with a sledgehammer. Will never buy Belkin again. Read full review »

Don't believe the advertising!

Pros Easy set-up, I guess.
Cons Didn't work as advertised. Not even close.
Recommended it? Yes

I'm really green to 'wireless'. My laptop has it and it works when I am traveling, but I did not/still do not know anything about adding it to home PC's.

I bought this because the Belkin ads say this works out to 1400'. ... Maybe on Mars.

I am in the country with NO interference... Read full review »

Works fine but prevents Voice over IP

bydswendt Nov 2, 2006
2 Helpfuls 3 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Works good
Cons prevents VOIP unless VOIP is before this device
Recommended it? No

Works good. Range is great and people rave about it, but I don't understand how range is an issue. I can see 7 wireless routers from my suburban home's dining room and at least 3 of those are excellent including 2 other Belkins. Seems to me that range only opens you up to more hackers ... unless... Read full review »

1 Helpfuls 2 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Works well when it works
Cons Buggy, has been recalled.
Recommended it? No

Mine (V2 suffix) has been locking up randomly, about once a day. After working with their very responsive tech support they told me this router has been recalled (their words) and that they would replace it in 7-10 days. FYI Read full review »

Great wireless router most of the time but, tech support sucks.

Pros Easy to configure, excellent range, excellent data transfer.
Cons Tech support staff is technically incompetent. Spotty connectivity and occasionally...
Recommended it? Yes

My first router was defective. It could only do LAN or wireless but, not both at the same time. (Don't ask how I figured this out.) The tech support calls were dismal as their techs seemed incompetent to me as I had to tell them how to troubleshoot the issue and I kept trying to convince them to... Read full review »

Unhappy with Belkin

bynate1346 Jul 26, 2006

Pros Good Signal Strength Coverage.
Cons Poor Poor connectivity speeds. Belkin tech support isnt helpful.
Recommended it? No

I had an old Netgear WRT54G and decided to upgrade to something that covered my 2500 sq ft house better. This router covers my house with "Very Good" signal strength BUT the speeds are horrible. Using only the "G" I can only connect for about 30 seconds at 54mbps then I am dropped to 11mbps no... Read full review »

This unit saved my investment, good, solid at 54mbs

byintrepi Mar 11, 2006

Pros High cost, high signal strength, reliable and runs well with DLINK hardware
Cons There are some, no doubt but in my applications, I haven't run into any problems.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this unit after reading a lot of reviews which is what I should have done before buying DLINK DI-624 with 3 DLINK DWL-G520 pci cards and three DLINK 7db antennaes to increase signal and range. After replacing the DLINK units twice in 3 months as both units lost signal to no signal. What to... Read full review »

This router has amazing reception strength.

At home I use this router coupled with the Belkin Pre-N MIMO Wireless Notebook Card for uncompromising reception and speed. This is no exaggeration: I now receive a stronger signal 2,000 feet away from my router than I did with my laptop... Read full review »

Belikin Wireless Pre-N Router (Good) / Wifi PCI card (Bad)

bycreativeid Nov 28, 2005
1 Helpfuls 2 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Router: works well / PCI Wifi Card: Nothing good that I can say about it.
Cons PCI Wifi Card: Don't get it!!
Recommended it? No

I have found Belkin Wireless Pre-N router (F5D8230-4) to be a solid performer. However, my review is more for people who are considering pairing this unit with Belkin's own PCI Wifi adapter (F5D7000 V3), which I found to be a poor performer (unable to make connect or drop out) - I recommend you... Replace Dlink? Wireless to the next level.....

byomegahertz2000 Oct 22, 2005
1 Helpfuls 2 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Fast set up, user friendly, sleek look, excellent range, blazing speed. Good price.
Cons Too much time making cables, not enough time making routers! slowly getting there
Recommended it? Yes

After my Dlink 624 decided to start crapping out on me, I ventured in the next wave of technology. It was the first router with true high speed technology that didn't drop the signal due to high activity. Dlink is great but has glitches with the dynamic turbo and has worn out quickly.

Pros Fast and long range when working
Cons Software is not up the hardware, wait for a more proven product.

If you haven't figured it out yet the router did not do what is was suppose to do on a regular basis. My internet link and wireless link would drop with no notice. Sure everything worked great for the first 10 minutes then connections dropped and mysteriously came back. I tried resetting my modems,... Read full review »

I needed a simple, easy to use router with good range-I found it!

Pros Easy to set up, good range, future technology!
Cons No MAC support in the box!! No ICHAT with encryption!
Recommended it? No

Well, my headline spells it out. Being a MAC user, I already felt somewhat left out in the cold! The choices for MAC routers is not that great! I did some investigating and found that this Belkin Pre-N router is both MAC & PC compatible! Well, that wasn't quite true either, but more about that in a... Read full review »

I have been using DI-624 and works great so far except its somewhat limited wireless range. Pros Friendly wizard set-up. Blazing speed. Easy. Blazing speed.
Cons Given its design, they should have made it functional as a coaster.

For real plug-n-play device. Set-up was a real snap. Somewhat limited for Cylon power users but for the other 99.9% of humanity this little gem sings. Good multi layered security. When used with a pre-n card on the other unit, you would swear you were connected directly to broadband. Most... Read full review »

This Belkin router is not the drop in wireless router that the marketing folks glamorize, but it does offer great coverage.

Items of note:
1) Probably the single most important thing to know before you go to buy this router is that ICMP must be enabled on your ISP's network or you... Read full review »

it works (sometimes), the range is great. A few issues that I have with it:
- Current firmware version is not showing up other then configuration backup script.
- you can only assign 192.168/172.x/10.x to internal network. I'm using another reserved range - had to switch the router to... Read full review »
