Pros Front & Rear Antennas, Concealed Display, Radar Locator, Bogey Counter
Cons Perceived as Expensive –; But, You Get What You Pay For!
Recommended it? Yes

I travel on business extensively in the three state area of California, Nevada, and Arizona. Since traffic citations are a major Cash Cow for all states and municipalities, the authorities use every means at their disposal to catch offenders. We face multiple threats from the air and from the... Read full review »

Pros Great X-band, but who cares?
Cons Pinball game alerts, outdated appearance, no text display
Recommended it? No

I just used the "new" V1 for the past month and here's my opinion. First, only Mr. Valentine would think that moving the laser sensor, and making it fit in his original case he designed over 10 years was progress. It is smaller, but who cares?

As for the arrows, I found them confusing. I... Read full review »

Pros Directional Arrows, bogey count, great reception, special mirror adapter is made just for...
Cons Pricey but worth it.

The Valentine 1 is great!!! I've used other radar detectors in the past and was never satisfied. The V1 gives you so much more information. It really helps you paint a picture of the road ahead by giving you "knowledge" instead of just "data".

The directional arrows help you know where... Read full review »

Here is it guys my opinion of the two best radar detectors out there. Depending on who you listen too these two detectors are by far the best in the pack of high end detectors.

Recently I upgraded my vehicle to a high end sport sedan so the obvious need for upgrading to the high end radar... Read full review »

Pros Radar Locator, Hyper-sensitivity, exceptional false alert rejection from other radar...
Cons Build for LH drive market. ~$1000 NZD imported = expensive!

My opinion is intended to help New Zealand Buyers, and is based on the latest (Purc. 4/01 2.909 rev) Revision of the Valentine one.

Pros Great sensitivity and range, easy to use, features that no other detector can match
Cons Expen$ive, bulky

I bought a Valentine One (radar only) way back in 1992. I still have it, and it still works well. Unfortunately, it does not have laser protection, which was the cause of great delight to the officer who ticketed me last fall. I decided that is was time to update my arsenal, and after doing some... Read full review »

Cons Slightly expensive, could be sleeker.

As you may have read over in the Passport 8500 section, I've owned two V1's previously and now, after selling my 8500, I'm on my third V1.

Here are some reasons the Valentine One in my opinion is the best radar detector on the market.

1) All the recent tests (except Craig... Read full review »

Yep... I bought them both. The V1 and the 8500. I tested them on both X-Band and Ka. Providing the radar was forward of my vehicle - they both registered at relatively the same time (using only one powered up at a time). From the rear the V1 BLEW THE 8500 OT OF THE WATER. My best friend is a cop... Read full review »

Cons UGLY!!! A little dated, has knob instead of push button.

While past performance is no guarantee of future results, it is sure a good way to gauge what you can expect, and with the Valentine One you can expect solid performance coupled with a solid piece of equipment.
First, On all bands I found this unit to give great advance warning, in fact, in... Read full review »
