Uplifter [Slipcase] by 311

Personnel: Nick Hexum (vocals, guitar); Sa (vocals); Tim Mahoney (guitar); P-Nut (bass instrument); Chad Sexton (drums, percussion). Audio Mixer: Jens. Specializing in a potent blend of rock, reggae, and rap, Omaha-born multi-platinum sellers 311 have garnered an immense grassroots following on the strength of their energetic live performances and nonstop touring schedule. Following a near four-year hiatus since their last studio album, 2005's DON'T TREAD ON ME, 311 have returned with the highly anticipated UPLIFTER, an album front man Nick Hexum has referred to as "the heaviest 311 has ever been." Bolstered by Bob Rock's brawny production hand, the band's ninth studio outing delivers the sonic goods; from the searing, heavy rock choruses of "Hey You," to slashing distortion on the relatively straight-ahead skanking reggae number "Mix It Up," UPLIFTER offers the vibrancy and excitement of their early recordings combined with the high level musicianship of a veteran touring band at the top of their game.

Cons "Something out of Nothing" seems like it missed an opportunity to be great
Recommended it? Yes

I don’t exactly keep my love for 311 a secret. I’ve seen them in concert ten times, own all their albums, DVD’s, and I always spread the positive vibes the band lays down in their music. 2005 was the last time we saw 311 release an album; four years being their longest break of their careers from... No so bad if you are in to the easy listening stuff.  Its not the old style of speed limit busting driving music I use to enjoy from 311.  But then again we all tend to mellow out with a little age.  Thats Ok but 311 should be more inclusive in their marketing strategy and not...
