Pros Range, voice quality, display, ringers
Cons Feedback, non-standard batteries

I bought this phone (and 4 additional handsets) about 1 month ago to replace a 2.4ghz siemans 2400 phone that was experiencing interference from a neighbors wireless lan. See below for info on wireless lan interference with cordless phones.

My overall recommendation is: if you must have a... Read full review »

You Can Phone Home About The Uniden TRU8866 Cordless

Pros Fully featured, easy to use cordless, 5.8GHz phone.
Cons You'll get no complaints from me!
Recommended it? Yes

I've had two lines in my home for as long as I can remember. But it's been years since I had a multi-line telephone.

Having recently moved into a larger loft, I needed more phones and I felt it was time to move beyond having multiple single line phones.

Following a bit of... Read full review »

Pros Wireless network compatibility, powerful base speakerphone, good voice quality when in...
Cons Signal range simply showstopper unacceptable, no DnD per handset, only one powered...

Needless to say, I was very excited when Uniden released the TRU8866 5.8Ghz 2-line phone. I've been waiting for a 2-line cordless phone in this frequency range to avoid interfering with my wireless network for some time. In many ways, the phone is quite nice and matches its marketing information,... Read full review »

90% of a perfect phone

Pros Build Quality, Straightforward User Interface, Handset Speakerphone
Cons Minor voice quality issues: Voice feedback (see below) and microphone performance
Recommended it? Yes

Overall, I have been pleased with this phone, particularly on usability and build quality. The interface is intuitive and easy to use. The range has been fine, with signal degradation only on the back balcony (only 40 feet away from the base station, but separated by a cumulative 8-10 feet of solid... Read full review »

Pros good volume, comfortable form factor, good reception, easily expandable
Cons voice "echo", CID not in sync, handset speakerphone sucks, DND useless
Recommended it? Yes

I've started working out of my home a lot more and so I needed a better telephone set up. I switched on of my lines to VOIP and bought this phone. So far, despite a few problems, it's been a very good phone. But there wasn't a lot to choose from -- if you want a two-line, 5.8GHz phone, there are... Read full review »

Pros good sound, good range, excellent voicemail support, good handset
Cons poor voice quality on headset, caller ID issue, no chain dialing
Recommended it? Yes

My current Siemens 2400 phone system was starting to get flaky so I was in the market for a new phone. I zeroed in on the 8866 sine I needed support for 2 lines, at least 5 handsets, and phone company voicemail. Reviews looked good so I bought a base and one handset to try out.

Overall it... Read full review »

I found the perfect phone for a work-at-home arrangement - or so I thought.

Uniden phones have always been "the" cordless phone for me - oh, sure, I dallied with the good-looking Sony in the mid-90s but when its batteries could be revived no more back to Uniden I went. The phone features... Read full review »

Pros Lots of features. No external antennae.
Cons Unreliable. NO customer service.

We replaced an nearly identical Uniden System with this after we lost two handsets during the move.

We moved into a house more than double the size of our old house, not to mention having a garage. Not every space in the house had a phone jack, presenting a challenge. Then there was the... Read full review »

Pros Clarity, range, message waiting indicator can be tied to provider's voicemail system
Cons Message waiting indicator is not large enough

Bought this phone when our previous corded 2-line phone gave up the ghost in an electrical storm, which was fine as both my wife and I hated that thing (it was GE, seemed really nice when we bought it, but the software in it was seriously buggy).

My wife runs a home-based office and spend... Read full review »

I'm coming from a Panasonic 3 handset system which I have truly loved and is still working great. I needed a multi-line phone and couldn't find a Panasonic model with the features I needed so I decided to try this Uniden set.

So far, I have no issues with the sound quality. I mostly talk... Read full review »
