Pros Reasonable price. Functionality of phone and answering machine features. Styling.
Cons Incoming call volume is sometimes weak and getting worse. Sound quality.
Recommended it? No

After I missed some important phone calls because my AT&T cordless phone malfunctioned. I decided to throw it out and buy something much better; I was even willing to spend up to $80. Fortunately I found a good phone from Uniden that cost just $36 at Wal-Mart.

Uniden 5.8 Ghz Cordless Phone -- Can you hear me now? No? How about now?

Pros Cordless, answering machine on base, inexpensive
Cons What? You want me to wake you up and pour you cocoa? Hello?
Recommended it? No

Apparently I'm dumb. Every single time I go out and buy something without reading the almighty reviews online I always end up burned. But I needed a phone to replace the cordless from ancient times that lost the ability to type the 1, 5, 8 and "Talk" buttons, and it was just a phone... so how... Read full review »

Pros -Looks, sound/performance, price, answering machine versatility, user interaction,...
Cons (Minor)- light buttons, no apparent relay track.
Recommended it? Yes

I had a Motorola phone that just wouldn't work. ..the kind with the ribbed rubber side-grips. I replaced it with another of the same type, but a different color: purple. Same problems. After some online researching I was surprised to see Uniden phones regarded as highly as they were.

Really bad reception.

Pros Ease of use.
Cons Volume goes down sometimes on its own, and cannot hear the person.
Recommended it? No

I bought the phone because the buttons on my old cordless phone stopped working, and so I mainly bought this one because the buttons looked like they would last a while, which has been true. I hardly ever use the phone now though because I cannot hear the person I'm talking to. My kids do use it,... Read full review »

Worked alright for a short while and then went south

Pros Looks nice, has a good feel, belt clip is strong
Cons Poor range, short battery life, low battery signal comes too late
Recommended it? No

From the minute we got this phone, we noticed that the range was incredibly short. We had been told that we needed a 5.8 Ghz model to avoid interference from a wireless network router, so that is what we bought. We live in a small apartment (maybe 50 feet from end-to-end), and the only way the... Read full review »

Pros reasonable price, nice looking, answering machine
Cons some static when too far from base, hard to record a message.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased this Uniden phone with answering system a little over a year ago. It was very reasonably priced, and had all the features I wanted.
This phone is cordless, and has a built in answering machine with it. It is an attractive piece as well. The phone has caller ID built right in,... Read full review »

Pros Additional handsets
Cons Volume, Reception, No Ring tone selection, Overall poor quality

This is my fourth Uniden phone and the Last! The last phone I had lasted for about a year, this one only lasted 12 hours. The quality of the phone itself is cheap, my daughters Toy phone has better quality.

Terrible Reception and Volume control is awful. One minute you can hear the next... Read full review »

Pros A lot of features for the money, clarity is excellent, answering machine is flexible
Cons Not digital - but who cares?
Recommended it? Yes

I've used Uniden cordless phones for years and years and have always been satisfied for the most part. I've used cordless phones at other people's homes which were made by other companies and they really didn't measure up, especially on the cheaper models.

I bought the EXAI5580 to replace... Read full review »

WORST RECEPTION EVER

bymeaghans Jul 28, 2007
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? Comment
Pros Most features: answering machine, caller ID, ease of use.
Cons The only one that matters: being able to have a conversation (RECEPTION).
Recommended it? No

Bought the EXAI5580 for about $25 on Woot.com. Nice style and I like the answering machine. However, as soon as I get over 11 feet away from the base, the reception on all of the 20 channels is just horrible. I have tried pressing the channel button and searching for a clearer connection to no... Read full review »

Inexpensive but poor reception

Pros Inexpensive, built-in answerer and caller-ID
Cons Poor reception
Recommended it? No

I purchased this phone on-sale to replace an old 900 Mhz cordless phone with answering machine. This phone included answering machine and caller-id, and it is 5.8Ghz so it should also have better reception. Unfortunately, reception is worse in every room of my house than the 900 Mhz phone. When I... Read full review »
