Unexpected by Michelle Williams

Personnel: Michelle Williams (vocals). Additional personnel: Rico Love (vocals); Frank Romano (guitar, bass guitar); Tim Stewart (guitars); L'che D. Martin, Treasure Davis (background vocals); Mikkel S. Eriksen, Tor Erik Hermansen. Programmers: Andrew Frampton; Wayne Wilkins. Audio Mixers: Manny Marroquin; Jean Marie Horvat; John Butler; Phil Tan. Recording information: The Record Plant,Los Angeles , Ca. As a former member of Destiny's Child, Michelle Williams has no shortage of contemporary R&B credibility, which gives 2008's UNEXPECTED, her third outing, a notable push. Williams's first two albums focused on gospel material, but UNEXPECTED is her first full-length R&B solo effort. The lead-off single, "We Break the Dawn," a pulsing, uptempo jam, and the sweeping ballad "The Greatest" are highlights, but the entire release should please fans of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Destiny's Child.

Pros Some great dance tracks, Williams a little more spunky than expected
Cons There is a lot of filler when there was a potential for so much more.
Recommended it? Yes

Michelle Williams.  It's a name you may or may not remember depending on how closely you followed the career of girl group of the new millenium Destiny's Child.  Once Destiny's Child became a trio Williams was the last member to be added and managed to be a survivor till the very end.  Which... Pros 3 great songs; Michelle's vocals; sounds nothing like Destiny's Child.
Cons Many songs lack that something special.
Recommended it? No

I loved Destiny's Child-- at least, I did until Beyonce decided her weave deserved more face time than the other girls in the group. After the band released the chart-topping Survivor, the group disbanded, and each of the girls started a solo career, each of which was quite successful. Michelle... Read full review »

Pros The synth heavy jams, Michelle's voice, Pure Pop
Cons "Thank U" pretty much sucks, the album had no success
Recommended it? Yes

Michelle Williams, one third of Destiny's Child, hardly had any spot in a Destiny's Child song. She always had the bridge, which, of course, is the most forgettable aspect of a full verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge song. That's not to say she doesn't have a voice. Her voice is much more profound... Read full review »
