I'm 17 and I had this truck since October of 2008. My father bought it for me shortly after I turned 16. Before that, I wasn't really sure about the Tacoma, due to it's small size. So anyways my dad got me the truck and the first time I drove it, I fell in love with it! It's simple to use,... Read full review »

Pros The best long lasting vehicle I've seen for years. No one will part with them.
Cons Owned 7 years, nothing bad to say.
Recommended it? Yes

Good quality, nice look, been repaired a few times for accidents, no problem getting replacement parts. Classic style, will last forever. Durable. I had an Oldsmobile Omega before this. I needed something that wasn't breaking down all the time. I bought the Tacoma because it is reliable and needed... Read full review »

Pros Comfort, reliable, good looks
Cons Pricey, Quirky manual locking front hubs (4x4)

I bought my 2000 Tacoma 4x4 new and loved every time I was behind the wheel. I have owned multiple trucks and this is by far the best truck I have driven. I bought one with a 4-cyl, manual, base model. The only upgrade that I went with was the sliding rear window. This truck is unstoppable! It was... Read full review »

A Great Truck!

Pros great MPG, power
Cons 4x4 light quirky
Recommended it? Yes

I recently purchased a four wheel drive 2000 Toyota Tacoma equipped with the 2.7 liter four cylinder with a five speed manual transmission, extended cab, and manual shifting transfer which I prefer. It is of the shift on the fly type. The truck was still somewhat new, with only 52,000 miles on it... Read full review »

Pros Mechanical quality, low total ownership cost
Cons Not real fancy, but you get what you pay for.

I bought this truck in 2001. I have a base 4x2 regular cab automatic with the 4-cylinder. The only gripes I have about this truck are things I knew going into the purchase. The small 4-cylinder with the automatic has very little power. Still, you can cruise at 80 mph without too much noise.

I have had my Tacoma for a while now and I love it. It handles amazingly. You can't beat the ride. It has great inside features and is extremely easy to operate while sitting in the drivers seat. I don't really have anything bad to say about this truck and I won't make up anything. The reason I... Read full review »

This is my first truck... so far, it is more comfortable and quieter than any of my cars (all econoboxes or convertibles). Fuel economy is good for a truck but if I didn't own this one, I might consider a station wagon for my purposes. I get a little over 20mpg. I drive a lot on the highway with an... Read full review »

Greatest Quality car I've ever owned

Pros truly living up to the honored reputation of quality that Toyota earned
Cons not very big as the Tundra or F150

Although I did buy mine brand new, I can honestly say I never had even the smallest problem with it the two years I owned it. I have never heard of anyone having no problems with their automobile with the exception of it being a new Toyota.
I had the 4 cylinder automatic and it was smooth... Read full review »

Just purchased my Tacoma a month ago. I love the added space and features over my previous truck (97 Mazda B2300). This truck will haul anything! I don't notice the increased load as i did with the old truck. The Tacoma handles pretty well, considering its a truck. Mine has the optional 3.4 liter... Read full review »

Can't say I use my truck for anything rough, but around town it's a great ride. The best thing about it is the ride. After test driving other compact trucks (Mazda/Ford, etc.) you just can't compare the smooth ride of the Toyota Tacoma. Even the non-TRD version has a far superior ride. Better than... I live in a sleepy town in NH so I need a truck to go to the dump and it is great to do errands with. I have the basic Regular Cab 4x2 4 cylinder automatic with air. I bought it about 9 months ago at an auction with 23,000 miles. It replaced a 1996 Ford Ranger with the same equipment.

Pros long lasting, very dependable truck
Cons 4WD should be a standard, not an option

From the great gas mileage to the souped up 4WD options, this mud demon has it all. Toyota's very own s-series pickup has blown all the others away. Tacomas are well-known for their long lasting and dependability. Great truck for fishing, hunting, boat-pulling, mudding, or just casual driving... Read full review »

Pros Compact, good gas mileage, extremely reliable, cheap
Cons Way too small, pretty useless for a passenger car or a towing car, bad tires

I bought this truck because I was tired of my little volkswagen and I've always loved trucks. I couldn't afford a Pre-Runner or a Ford F-150 like I wanted, but I did want a pickup truck. I settled on the little Tacoma because it was half the price of a full sized truck and was still good looking. I... Read full review »

Best V6 Toy with 4 wheels.

Pros 190hp V6, Toyota reputation , beautiful design
Cons pricey for V6 truck, only higher end models have ABS and other goodies.

I had this truck for a year now. Based on Toyota's reputation for being reliable and performance, and after the test drive, this truck was the Toy for me. The V6 model comes with a standard V6 190 Horsepower, that is more horse power than a lot of the other trucks in the same class. I'm impress... Read full review »

I just love this machine. A friend of mine bought a Tacoma about a year and a half ago. I have sat shotgun to some of the roughest punishments you could ever give to a vehicle, and through all of that the Tacoma keeps going. Toyota is at the zenith of their engineering. They have made a machine... Read full review »
