A Lexus with a Toyota badge - but about this engine...
I purchased a used 2000 Toyota Avalon back in June of 2005 from a local Toyota dealer's used car lot. At the time, it had 70,000 miles on it. A Carfax report indicated that it had one previous owner who lived in a small, remote town about 60 miles away from the nearest major city, which explained... Read full review »
2000 Avalon XLS is awesome.
I bought my silver 2000 Avalon XLS in August 2004 for $12,000.00. The odometer read 106,000 miles. My Asian mechanic buddy advised me to buy it. I have never regretted it. I plan to keep the car a total of 6 years and then to buy a 2004 Avalon XLS; it's the last one of the same body style.
The...

Reliable, comfy, it's a toyota
Bought my 2000 avalon in 2005. Bought it at a shady dealer so the car had issues I found out afterward. Not toyota's fault there. Replaced all 4 struts, again not toyota's fault. Car had 68k miles on it and I believe it was a corporate car, or leased car. Signs of kids having riddin in it. Again... Read full review »
2000 Avalon XL....and 2005 Is the Time to Buy One!
I love writing reviews on old cars. So many people have already rang in with their opinion of this car that it seems like any additional information would be old news. Or would it be? Maybe not. For the frugal among us who still enjoy the finer things, now might be the time to find a nice, gingerly... Read full review »
Just Love It!
Have owned this car from day 1 and still don't have problems with it. Will probably buy another based upon quality and room. Read full review »
Great deal used
We recently purchased a 2000 Avalon on Ebay. I am quite pleased with this car. It is a really refined car, quiet and smooth. I've been playing with the trip computer to see what kind of gas mileage it can get, and found that it maxes out at about 32, if I coast along at 55. At 75, however, it still... Read full review »
Not bad looking
I bought the car 3 weeks ago and I am very impressed with it with the exception of one thing. Sometimes at highway speeds the steering wheel begins to shake, sometimes very little and sometimes very bad. Already made an apointment to get it looked at. Otherwise the car is fantastic on the open road... Read full review »
SORRY EXCUSE FOR A FLAGSHIP TOP OF THE LINE LUXURY CAR
THIS CAR HAS BEEN A SQUEAK, POP AND RATTLE TRAP, SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. DEALER GAVE UP ON TRYING TO STOP THE DASH RATTLES AND SAID THEY SIMPLY COULD NOT STOP THE SQUEAKS AND RATTLES FROM RETURNING. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE NOVEMBER 1999, AND HAVE ONLY DRIVEN IT 39,000 MILES... Read full review »
XLS V6 - 75K miles and still smooth as ever
I traded in my 2 seater when I got pregnant for a 2000 Avalon. My husband bought a 97 4 runner limited new and has put 100K on it. So another toyota was what we wanted. I wanted a good family car, but with heated seats and leather. The camery was nice, but I felt cramped after being in my friends... Read full review »
I HATE THIS CAR!
This car is horrible! Even though it has a v6, the japanese engine sounds like a 4 cylinder! The engine is very slow, and there isn't really a lot of cargo space if you go on long trips. The whole design of the car is weird from the oddball taillights to the skinny tires. The clock is weirdly... Read full review »
Avalon - A Lexus in disguise.
The Avalon is an extremely competent performer. It is very smooth and silent and wafts along as if it were riding on a cloud. It's turbine smooth and silent V6 is a strong and flexible performer and returns very good fuel consumption. The Avalon feels much smaller than it's dimensions suggest and... Read full review »
Excellent Choice!
I'm just reaching 30K miles on my Avalon, and have had absolutely no problems with it. It gets reasonably good gas mileage, and has a very comfortable ride. My only complaint is that the center air vents do not have any option to close the airflow. Their limited range of motion means somebody in... Read full review »
First 50,000 Miles - Trouble Free
I purchased this car new in 2000 and was looking for a roomy dependable family car that I could keep for a long time. Recently reaching the 50K mark I can honestly say that the car has been very enjoyable to own and absolutely trouble free. It has only been to the dealer one time for its 25,000... Read full review »
Best car I ever owned!
In May of 2000, we purchased our first Toyota - an Avalon XLS. After researching exhaustively on the internet, we knew what options we wanted and were ready to test drive. We entered the showroom and told the salesman what we wanted. One car met our requirements - it had just been delivered and had... Read full review »
Almost perfect sedan
Like many other reviewers, I have owned many Toyotas over the years starting with a 1975 Celica. I have always preferred the reliability they offer, even though initial cost and after market parts are a little higher.
The Avalon is the best Toyota sedan yet. At my over 6 foot height, I have...

2000 Toyota Avalon
Since we have gotten our 2000 Avalon, we have taken all our family trips in it. (family of 4) It's spacious and comfortable even for those long drives. It's quite nice as a passenger and absolutely wonderful as a driver.
As a passenger, two adult-sized women can sleep rather comfortably...

The best car I have owned.
We now have a little over 10,000 miles on our Avalon XLS, enough to give me a little credibility when I write about it. We got the Option Package #7, with the VSC, traction control, larger tires/wheels, and ended up adding the moon roof, paying $26,900 when it was all over but the crying. Buying a... Love my Avalon
Bought my Avalon XLS one year ago today and have been extremely pleased with it. Was hesitant when first considering the Avalon, thinking it was an "old person's" car and too big. But when I compared the Camry and the Avalon side by side, the actual exterior size of the cars was almost identical... Read full review »
Excellent Car
I bought the Avalon in February 2000. I looked at several other cars, but after we'd purchased a Corolla for my wife in '99, I became hooked on Toyota. The build quality is very good.
No squeeks, no rattles, more than a year later. I find that after I'm away on business, I really enjoy...
