Good while it lasted.
The P15-S479 was appealing to me because it could do everything what with the media center software installed. And for the most part, that was true. With a simple RAM upgrade it could take on a lot of tasks - including many games such as Half Life 2.

Workhorse, but has needed repairs
I bought my S479 in March of 2004 at a Best Buy, and got the extended warranty (because of a different manufacturer's notebook monitor shooting craps on me). Totally pleased with this purchase
I couldn't have asked for a better system at the price I paid for this machine over three years ago. The only major issue that I've had to this point is that I had to re-install Windows XP...but that is hardly a Toshiba P15-S479 issue.

Disappointed by Toshiba Quality
I purchased two of these computers for work. The screen was beautiful and feature set nice. In the past I had trusted Toshiba for quality. After a year, things began to break on both of them. Great for 12 month and 3 weeks!
I loved this computer. A great desktop replacement.
Until.....
At 12 months and 3 weeks old my display died! My warranty was for 12 months. Toshiba could have cared less.
