Pros Robust, high quality sound, versatile, excellent reception, lasts a decade.
Cons No dedicated aux switch
Recommended it? Yes

I have bought my Tivoli Audio Pal in 2004, and have been using it almost every day since then. It just goes on without compromise.
I wanted to buy a high-quality sound speaker, that is portable, has long battery life, and is versatile.

I had found many uses since I bought.

What a high-priced piece of junk

byhellojanjanjan Apr 8, 2011
1 Helpfuls 2 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Nice to look like if you want a radio that doesn't work.
Cons Badly designed and this buyer feels duped and taken and overcharged for junk
Recommended it? No

It didn't take long for my neat-looking radio to break down. Gosh, I sure learned that slick design and smart advertising and buying in a posh shop all don't add up to a good product. I can't recall when I called the company and the details are a bit vague but they were nice and told me that the... Read full review »

Pros If you want good portable sound with super FM reception buy this unit.
Cons I really can't think of anything negative
Recommended it? Yes

I've had my fair share of portable radios and boom boxes but most all of them seem to miss the mark. Too big, bad sound, poor reception, cheap controls, you know the story. The PAL always looked good in the stores but I always wondered how it would really be at home and in daily use.
Well get... Read full review »

Pros excellent sound quality, portable, great battery life, rugged build
Cons none
Recommended it? Yes

This radio sounds great, is extremely portable and has a great battery life. My partner and I brought it to a windy pier to listen to while fishing, and a number of people walking by asked about it because of the clarity of sound coming from such a small radio on a windy pier. I carry it everywhere... Read full review »

Pros Small size, awesome power and tuner.
Cons Batteries aren't the best- but this is upgradeable!
Recommended it? Yes

I also own several other Henry Kloss designed radios- the KLH Model 8, KLH 21, Advent 400, CSW 88, and a few of the newer Tivoli Audio versions. I love these radios, and the Tivoli PAL produces exceptional sound and has terrific reception. What makes Henry Kloss designed radios special is that he... Read full review »

Tivoli PAL

byurbanfoto Aug 9, 2005
2 Helpfuls 3 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros compact, good sound, portable, aux input, dual battery / AC power
Cons price, at times too much bass
Recommended it? Yes

I generally agree with the other reviewers: it is an impressive radio, both in terms of the reception and the full sound.

If you compare it to the best of the others, I still prefer the sound of other (larger) radios, esp. the Kloss Model 88 (a heavy beast but great stereo sound), but... Read full review »

Introduction

I am quite a fan of Tivoli audio products, after fairly recently discovering the Model One table radio. I was so impressed by it that almost straight away I went and purchased a Model Two, the stereo version. Again, I was very pleased. After reading so many glowing reviews of... Read full review »

I bought this radio about a year ago to amplify sound for a portable Dvd player. Little did I know that I would use this radio everyday. I take the pal to work and I always get comments on it's amazing sound. The best part about the pal is that it is rechargeable. This baby will hold hold up to 12... Read full review »

Cons no handle, no external antenna input, no component sound out

I like to listen to radio at work. Because of this I have been looking for a good radio for quite a while. The boomboxes have horrible FM tuners and are huge. The little transistor style portables generally sound awful, and many of them have the same lousy tuners as the bigger boomboxes. I ran... Read full review »

A SMALL WONDER!

Pros Pulls in stations other radios can't.
Cons NONE

My wife presented me with a PAL radio a few days ago and it has solved all my reception problems. It sits in the exact spot where I first had a large tuner and later a small boombox. Neither of them could pull in my favorite stations. The PAL produces perfect sound quality with no static or... Read full review »

I still have one question after hearing this radio. How the heck does that little enclosure produce such great sound? It's crisp, and full. Sure it's no comparison to a dedicated home stereo, but good luck taking that to the beach:) The PAL replaced my 10+ year old "boom box" that took 8 D cell... Read full review »

Is It Wrong To Love A Radio?

byhtbomb Jan 3, 2004
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Design, sound, portability
Cons Price
Recommended it? Yes

I admit this was strictly an impulse purchase. I didn't really NEED another radio around the house, let alone a mono one. Local holiday ads caught my attention and a chance encounter at a local store proved too tempting to resist. I was seduced by the units striking good looks: simple, easy to use... Read full review »

I got my PAL because I wanted a good radio to replace my tinny combo radio/tape units. After reading good reviews of Tivoli Audio's other radios I decided to take a chance on the PAL and I'm glad I did. The sound that comes out of the speaker is much clearer than I ever expected.

I checked this out for a while before purchasing. I had an old Advent radio and this model line is a close relative to the Advents of the early 80's.
After bringing this home I plugged it in to charge overnight, then when I went to use it the unit had not charged and I could not get it to... Read full review »
