The Polar Express - Christmas Magic For Young and Old Alike
With all of the fuss about the Polar Express up in these parts, I made it a point to finally see the film itself last year. I don’t know exactly why I hadn’t seen it before then - with three kids you would think I would have sat down with them at some point and viewed it, but I hadn’t. My kids had... Read full review »
What a journey!
Hubby and I had seen a few clips of The Polar Express since its release to cinemas in 2004 but had never actually got around to viewing the film. Christmas Day saw us sleepily relaxing, after pigging out a little in the afternoon, in front of the goggle box and so finally I managed to watch The... Read full review »

Hanks Brings the Magic in The Polar Express, But It's Not Enough
It seems impossible to me that with all of the Christmas books I've read, I haven't ever cracked open the cover of one of the all-time classics, The Polar Express, not even when the arrival of the movie in 2004 made Chris Van Allsburg's acclaimed picture book one of the hottest sellers of the... The Moose Hole - Seeing, Not Believing

I overcame my fear, and found magic here
The Story: A boy, about nine or so, whom I don't think ever gets a name, is very much a doubter regarding Santa Claus. He wants t believe, but he also wants proof. His little sister believes, but the boy is unsure . . . until the Polar Express shows up in his front yard, just as he is about to fall... Read full review »
Another flash in the pan.
I must admit that I was interested in this film mainly because of the high-tech animation. Aside from that, I have long been a devoted fan of Tom Hanks, who not only narrates the film, but also plays a number of different characters in the movie. Unfortunately, I found the whole thing to be a... Read full review »
a potential new Christmas classic
A film by Robert Zemeckis
"The Polar Express" is based on a 29 page award winning children's book by Chris Van Allsburg. Robert Zemeckis obviously had to expand Van Allsburg's book, but he still begins with the first line of the book and ends with the last line. "The Polar...

Polar Express Full Frame DVD
Director Robert Zemeckis revolutionized the art of animated film in 1998's WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT by dropping cartoon characters into the same frame with flesh-and-blood actors. In THE POLAR EXPRESS live action and animation have merged seamlessly resulting in sparkling super-realism. A landmark technique Zemeckis and his Sony Pictures Imageworks team call Performance Capture perfectly suits the tenor of this wondrous children's Christmas story by Chris Van Allsburg. A disillusioned little boy just old enough to doubt the existence of Santa Claus has the adventure of a lifetime one fateful Christmas Eve. Clad in his pajamas he climbs aboard a magic train to the North Pole driven by a kindly train conductor voiced by Tom Hanks who starred in both of Zemeckis's Academy-Award winning films FORREST GUMP and CASTAWAY. Among myriad jaw-dropping moments the train plummets brakeless through crystalline mountains in a simulated roller coaster ride. Going off the rails skidding sideways and snaking violently across a frozen lake the train arrives at the North Pole a vast glowing city of brick buildings. At that moment the car carrying the kids detaches and they're sent tumbling down never-ending chutes and slides until they land in the middle of Santa's Workshop. With its fascinating tale and impressive technical frolics THE POLAR EXPRESS is destined to become both a holiday classic and a new turning point in the art of animated cinema.
