Cons Nothing really

Some of you might remember me from my Deluxe Edition review. But for those who don't know me, I am a huge Sims fan. I love this game and I will play it for days and days on end. Hot Date is an expansion pack that allows the user's Sims to go to a new downtown area and go on dates. This is great... Read full review »

Pros Your Sims leave home! Plus new items, game mechanics, and general newness.
Cons It's yet more money to spend on this game? Will it ever end?
Recommended it? Yes

At first, I wasn't sure what to make of Hot Date, the third expansion for the wildly popular game The Sims. A friend of mine had told me from the day the original game was released that they needed to let us take our Sims out of the home. I was skeptical of how this would work; where would they go?... Pros A whole new area for your sims to explore; many new social interactions
Cons Depending on your computer, it can slow down loading time
Recommended it? Yes

Currently, the Sims has more than five expansion packs to enrich your virtual friends' lives. But Hot Date, which was the third expansion pack released, has brought a whole new perspective to The Sims.

In the Hot Date expansion pack, a new area is introduced to your sims. Downtown, which... Read full review »

Pros Much better than the first sims games. Gives you a lot more options and interactions.
Cons If you have an older computer it doesn't work well due to the extended graphics.
Recommended it? Yes

This is a great game. I had a blast making my sims get hooked up :) Great new concept for the sims evolution. Loved being able to make my own buildings (usually bars) in the downtown screen. Couldn't believe the reality of it cause when your sim drinks too much they actually act different :) Making... Read full review »

Pros Many new interactions and Sims; many fun places to go and fun things to do.
Cons Runs very slowly; Sims' status bars decrease very quickly while in the city.
Recommended it? Yes

I got the original the Sims game a long time ago, and have bought all the expansion packs since then. When Hot Date came out, I was very excited because the commercials made it look very fun; they showed Sims interacting more and in different environments.

When I first installed Hot Date... Read full review »

Wonderful 3rd Expantion

bydisbanzai Aug 24, 2003
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Downtown Area, 100+ New Objects (In Game and Out)
Cons Load Screen takes much longer
Recommended it? Yes

I found this expantion to be very useful. It makes the game slightly harder to play (becasue relationships don't go up as fast), but that only makes the game more realistic. This is the first expantion where your Sims can leave their own house and go downtown, to meet a new group of people called... Read full review »

When Sims first came out on the market, I had to have it! Everyone was raving about it and I wanted to see for myself if it really lived up to my expectations. To tell the truth, I was pleasantly surprised with all the features and possibilities the game had. I began to play and soon I was... Read full review »

Adds great replay value to the Sims

Pros A worthy expansion for your money
Cons None that I can think of
Recommended it? Yes

This, in my opinion, is the best expansion pack of the Sims yet (and I own all of them). With this expansion, you can personally create an entire downtown section of the Sims game that your characters can travel to via taxi.

The downtown area will constantly be populated with computer... Read full review »

Let Your Sims Find True Love

bysarahmcd Dec 6, 2002
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Makes the game more interesting and challenging, new items, downtown, new characters.
Cons Addictive! Time spent downtown is flawed, Sim dating is tricky.
Recommended it? Yes

I go for months at a time, during which I play no video or computer games. But occasionally, I will try one, and for several weeks I will be a total slave to that game. First it was the Sims. Initially, I found it far too difficult, but several months later I tried again and got the hang of it. I... Read full review »

Pros New Game Play options make it more interesting.
Cons Makes the game more complex
Recommended it? Yes

Being a heavy player of the Sims, there is no doubt that I took advantage of the third expansion for the popular online game. "Hot Date" very well may be the most influential of all the expansions available so far. In the first two expansions "Livin' Large" and "House Party", Maxis made very few... Read full review »

Pros Fun
Cons Addicting & Slow on my computer

When I bought this product for myself for Christmas, I was really addicted to it. Relationships in the game is harder to maintain. There are two 'bars' where you like other sim for a lifetime and present...It is confusing at first. You need to have the lifetime bar to 50 to become friends with the... Read full review »

Pros great graphics and much easier interaciton then before
Cons loading times can be a little slow.

After playing all the the sims expansion packs this is one that is finally worth the money. With the expansive down town it is much easier to interact and make friends in this version. Not to mention that if you get tired of a downtown area you can change it to anything you like for free so there's... Read full review »

Sims hot date can be summed up in one word "Fantastic".

Where to start, think of your life and put it on the computer is a good thing. The general idea of the Sims is to make a neighbourhood full of friendly (or in some cases not so friendly) family's where they interract, climb the... Read full review »

Pros Great Game
Cons A lot of the cds for Hot Date is defective.

When I got this game, I was at my aunt's and uncle's house. I didn't play it on their computer so I just sat on the couch, reading the description over and over. Little did I know that when I got home, and tried to install it over and over again, it said "catastrophic failure". Finaly when I made... Read full review »

Hot Date

6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros new socializing feature; new furniture
Cons takes up a lot of computer space
Recommended it? Yes

Hot Date is one of the best expansion packs, because Hot Date adds a very helpful feature to the game. Before Hot Date, a Sim simply stayed in his neighborhood, making friends with neighbors. With the Hot Date expansion, a Sim can go to downtown shops (that you can also make), and meet new and... Read full review »

Not Perfect, But Definitely Worthwhile

19 Helpfuls 20 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros New features in relationships, Sims can finally get out of the house!
Cons Downtime time is wack. Can't import lots. Greeting is now too complicated!
Recommended it? Yes

Wonderful and addictive as The Sims is, there is something claustrophobic about the fact that your poor little guys can never leave their own houses. Well, okay, if you want to give Susie a chance to get out of the house you can play as one of her neighbors and invite her over, but you have no... Read full review »
