I ACTUALLY FOUND THIS Texas Instruments TI-30 Xa Solar Scientific Calculator AT THE DOLLAR STORE AND BOUGHT IT FOR MY SON. I THOUGHT MAYBE HE COULD USE IT ON SOME OF HIS MATH OR JUST HAVE FUN MESSING WITH IT. TO ME IT IS VERY CONFUSING. NOT SOMETHING YOU WOULD WANT UNLESS YOU REALLY NEEDED IT... Read full review »

Pros Easy to read. simplistic design.
Cons The battery has to be replaced.
Recommended it? Yes

After using this calculator I can't use any other one.
The design is so simplistic and elegant. It makes all the
other ones seem busy and confusing.
It works well for me, I have never had it do anything
erratic. However, I only use it for algebra 1 and geometry

Cons Crowded Layout, battery powered, (should be solar), poor functionality, and only 3 memory...
Recommended it? No

It has always been my policy to try and find a good use for items I purchase. Most of the time these purchases are under researched impulse buys that were required to complete a task and made with such haste that one does not even consider the consequences. Even though the cost was nominal I felt... Read full review »

Good Overall experience

Pros Solar, parenthesis, price, back-space key, 3 memory locations, stays clean, design
Cons Somewhat cheaply made/plastic feel
Recommended it? Yes

I have used this calculator at work for over 5 years and I have always had good results. The solar panel works well under fluorescent lighting. I especially like the 3 memory positions and parenthesis for performing longer equations without paper. Also, when you make a mistake, it is very, very,... Read full review »

Pros Inexpensive, simple construction
Cons All of the problems states above
Recommended it? No

This calculator has behaved erratically since I bought it (and another of the same model for my partner) two years ago. The buttons are both overly sensitive to the point that you have to be extra careful not to brush against another number as you compute and sometimes do not respond at all. Now,... I purchased this calculator as it was required for two of my high school classes, pre-calculus and physics. I was surprised at the affordability of the calculator.

This particular calculator is very easy to use. I would speculate that even a sixth grader could properly use the TI 30Xa. I... Read full review »

Introduction

Let me start by saying that I have been using this calculator for about 2 years and I think it's great! It has never failed me.

Pros Logically laid out keyboard, includes all basic functions, inexpensive
Cons Limited functions

The TI-30X is the standard calculator used in most science classes at the University of Ottawa, where I am a student. Even though students in my engineering classes mostly use TI-86 and TI-89 models, I have used the TI-30X in some instances where programmable calculators were no allowed.

I needed a calculator for my work in a molecular biology lab. It had to do logs, 1/x, constants and regression. I bought this product when I was in college to aid me in my math class. When it worked it was a great calculator.
