Canon EF 75-300 mm F/4-5.6 III USM Lens

The Canon EF III USM is a good choice for beginning photographers looking for a wide-angle zoom lens to capture images of sports or wildlife — and even up-close pictures where some background blurring is desired. This Canon camera lens is one of the smallest and most lightweight 4x zoom ratio lenses in its class. The lens is compatible with other Canon cameras with an EF mount and has a 58-mm filter size. The aperture size on this telephoto camera lens is f/4 with a focusing distance of between 75-300 mm. The electronic lens mount on the Canon EF III USM means smooth and quiet auto-focusing, but manual focus can be used if desired. The lens element rotates while focusing. This Canon camera lens makes use of its Super Spectra coating to reduce ghosting and flare and to boost color and contrast readings while capturing images. The zoom ring on this telephoto camera lens looks especially nice with a silver ring trim. Though there are more expensive and feature-laden lenses out there, the Canon EF III USM is a great starting place for those who want a strong basic tool to use to learn as they go or for those who are on a budget, but still want to take great pictures.

Cons Doesn't feel sturdy, 4.9 foot minimum macro

I bought this lens about two months ago after using it over spring break in 2011. The zoom on the lens is very good quality for it's price, and the quality of depth of field in the resulting photos/videos looks beautiful. It has become one of my main lenses since purchasing it. The only negative... Read full review »

Pros Lightweight, Good value, Compact

I have been using this lens for some time and it is my favorite lens.  The 75 to 300 mm zoom is excellent even for most close shots.  So that when I used the camera I find that I rarely have to switch to the 50 mm lens.I recommend keeping a UV filter on to protect the lens at all... If you have a Canon Digital SLR, and just the kit lens that it came with, there is no doubt that you will sometime find yourself wishing that you had more zoom. Face it- That 18-55 that the camera came with just doesn't get you up close- where you really want to be. This is especially true for... Read full review »

This Vivitar Series 1 3-Piece Filter Set contains a variety of multi-coated glass filters that will optimize your photography experience, and protect your lenses from scratches and dust. Vivitar multi-coated lens filters are translucent glass placed in front of a camera lens to alter or adjust the light entering the camera and to protect the camera lens. Lens filters improve photographs by giving photographers control over light and allowing them to emphasize the features of a scene that they consider most important. This particular filter kit is a combination of the three filters no photographer should be without. Filters are one of the least expensive accessories you can use to make big changes in the way your pictures look. Includes filter storage wallet. Filters Included: Ultraviolet UV Filter Ultraviolet UV Filters are multi-purpose filters that absorb ultraviolet rays that often make outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct, and should be constantly fitted to a lens to provide improved clarity and color balance, as well as to provide protection to your lens. Circular Polarizing (CPL) Filter Circular Polarizing (CPL) Filters allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass, as well as improve color saturation, clarity and contrast. This threaded filter is often used to increase the contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds, for example. Polarizing filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot, and they will provide protection for your lens while shooting. Neutral Density (ND) Filter Neutral Density filter reduces intensity of all wavelengths or colors of light equally, giving no changes in hue or color rendition. ND filters are particularly useful reducing depth of field in very bright light. ND8 allows 1/8 of available light into the lens (3 f-stops).
