yes and no
I chose this model because it was in the price range I was willing to spend, and of those models in my range it was the most solidly built sturdy unit on display. I also like the Oster brand.
This is not a bad unit, but I would recommend reading the other reviews. I haven't had a bowl...

Bowl and cover problems
I use mine quite a bit, and one of the things I do often is grate cheddar cheese. The last couple brands I owned had a difficult time with this task, but the Oster has a powerful, fairly quiet motor and has no problems.

The bowl lock mechanism is over engineered and breaks, which will not allow you to use the blender unless you rig it. The replacement is about 20.00. Very frustrating.

It just popped and stopped. No amount of pressing on the buttons would revive it... Read full review »
