Let me tell you how I make toast with euro-pro TO289N
All you have to do is remove the crumb tray and the toast browns on both sides. 450 degrees,dial on toast and lowest dial just past dark, stand and watch till toast is the right color and shut off oven. put crumb tray back in oven. DANGER! EXPLODING GLASS!!!!
Bought this model, had it about a month. Just set it for 375 for 10 minutes, at the end of 10 minutes, the timer went off and the glass door shattered. My husband bought me this a few months ago because I

Garbage
Control unit literally melted itself--plastic fumes in my kitchen--and now the heating elements won't turn on. The only thing still working is the little humming, rattling convection fan. Considering I used this thing about once a month, that is pretty ridiculous.

Toasting problem solved
For all of the previous reviewers who said toasting takes too long ... I had the same problem if the rack was in the lower position (centering the food). When toasting, try putting the rack in the upper position with the food closer to the element, similar to broiling. Works great. Fast. Read full review »
Nice while it lasted = ONE WEEK
After I got the knack of making toast, I especially enjoyed having 2 racks: could bake a dozen muffins, or 2 pans of little cookies, lots of roasted veggies all at once, and it did a nice job of browning them. Terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is hazardous appliance.
It heats up so hot on the outside, it melted its own cord and nearly started a house fire.
Don't plan on placing this on your counter near a wall or under cabinetry because it will melt anything in its vicinity.

Glass door exploded..

In general nice, one major flaw
In general it does a good job for us but to date, 2 of the 3 plastic knobs have broken off. When the first knob broke I figured was just a fluke and I reconstructed it with modeler's glue. Today, another broke off! I suppose i'll glue this one and the third when it eventually breaks.
