Bad Hardware

Pros Seems like nice combination of features that can be useful.
Cons It never excels at anything and is a poor choice for a phone.
Recommended it? No

Like any device that tries to do too much, it never excels at anything. First of all the Sidekick is not a very reliable device, it is of bad quality and the software and network has failed more than once. Tmobile has been unable to keep the network on consistently. They have been spotty in many... Read full review »

Sidekick Two, Screen of Blue; All the Neat Things It Can Do!

Pros User-friendly interface, chock-full of useful features
Cons The phone function was unreliable: missed calls and dropped calls. (My experience, not...

I've never used a PDA before. I had a hand-me-down Handspring PDA for a while but never got used to using a stylus to "write" with, and having to stare at a little computer screen to organize my life was maddening. So I decided that perhaps I wasn't a PDA kind of person, and just continued to put... Read full review »

Pros A fun gadget. Your friends will envy you.
Cons Not a good phone, doesn't deliver all the features promised as well as it should.
Recommended it? No

If you want a cool gadget, and want to be the first person on your block to have a Sidekick, then the Sidekick II is for you. However, if you want a phone, or a PDA - Look elsewhere.

The technology to combine these two just isn't there yet. All the features, Web, Camera, E-mail, IM, and... Read full review »

Pros Camera, Unlimited texting/email/internet, Sick Keyboard. Great deal, decent coverage.
Cons SIze is a little big, but a year ago, they were all this size.

Wow, corny. Ok, for real though, if your trendy, or if you have many friends, if youre always fighting to get on a computer, if you constantly go over on your text messaging...if you are in their network, than T-Mobile's Sidekick II is an insane choice. I have a Sprint PM8200 that I bought last... Read full review »

Pros All in one, like taking your PC with you wherever you go. Remarkable capablities
Cons A little bulky. Screen graphics geared to toward the "youth" market.
Recommended it? Yes

I've been testing my SideKick II for weeks now. My findings are as following:
As a telephone: Good reception, easy to use, a little bigger than you standard cell, but it also does a lot more.
As a EMAIL device: Easily sets up to receive and send emails for your other email providers... Read full review »

Sidekick is ok, but unreliable. Data network goes down--once for a week.

Pros Nice device when it works the way it should.
Cons Unreliable network. The folks at T-Mobile are the most unpleasant I have ever dealt with.
Recommended it? No

The Sidekick could be a useful product, but mine has been unreliable. First, I had a problem in Dec., 2004, with the unit not holding a charge. I dealt with T-Mobile, who sold me the Sidekick and provides the data service to customers. It took 12 days for me to receive a replacement, and then it... Read full review »

Pros Excellent construction quality; Browsers web, email and IM with style.
Cons T-Mobile network still spotty.

What is it?

The Sidekick II works as a cellphone, but it's really best for people who want to browse the web, read and write email, and use AOL Instant Messenger anywhere and everywhere.

I've owned a Sidekick almost since they first came out, and you can read my earlier reviews... Read full review »

I'll make this review short & sweet. I bought the SKII immediately a few days after it came out. At first it was great, everything I hoped it would be. But about 2 months ago everything started going to hell. Long story short, T-Mobile & Danger's service for the device went straight down the... Read full review »

I have had this phone for a few months now, and am now writing a review, as I definitely think it takes a while to really figure out the pros and cons of cell phones.
First off, this phone is cool. It looks cool and turns heads everywhere I go. And I know that if I want attention, all I have... Read full review »

Cons Terrible noise canceling bug that affects voice quality and washed out screen.

Update: 7/7/2005 I sold my Sidekick II a month ago and have now replaced it with a Treo 600. I stand by the review that the Sidekick II device is a great device and a hell of a convergence device. But, the company Danger has no clue to what uptime is for backend servers. During my five months using... Read full review »
