Great mixer!

bytlhingan May 30, 2010

Pros Stylish, easy to use, plenty of power.
Cons Bowl wobbles under heavy load.
Recommended it? Yes

Our Black & Decker breadmaker fell apart after a single year of moderate use, so the wife and I were in the market for something heavy-duty. After perusing stand mixers, we narrowed our selection to this Sunbeam dual-motor 450W stand mixer and the Cuisinart 1000W stand mixer. Unwilling to dish out... Read full review »

I was sooo excited to get a stand mixer from my husband for Christmas. I had always wanted one and finally i had one! I read all the directions on using it and even thought some of the recipes that came in the booklet were good. I decided to make a yummy buttercake that my husband loves to thank... Sunbeam Mixmaster Heritage Series 2347 - Mixing It Up At Maximum Volume

byrkingfish Jan 16, 2009
72 Helpfuls 73 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Retro look. Quality fit-and-finish. Includes stainless steel mixing bowls.
Cons No flexibility with bowl rotation feature. Stiff-working buttons. Man... is this thing...
Recommended it? Yes

In my opinion, the best room in the house is the kitchen. My baseline culinary activity begins with twice-a-week bread baking duties, with a cake or pie thrown-in as an occasional tasty treat. The winter months are especially kitchen-oriented due to decreased responsibilities outdoors and the... Read full review »

Bad Luck With TWO Sunbeam Heritage Mixers!

byteri1999 Nov 13, 2008
1 Helpfuls 2 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Styling, color & customer service is good
Cons This is a mixer with issues, as stated in the body of my review
Recommended it? No

I'd like to say I'm a HUGE fan of the old Sunbeam Mixmasters and I had one for years. Now THATS a great mixer!  I got this red Heritage mixer two years ago for Christmas, and I use it for making bread only. Too cumbersome to pull out for a cake mix, etc. I make bread approx 6-8 times a year, so I... Read full review »

Pros stylish, fast, durable, easy to clean. easy to use
Cons heavy, buttons hard to push, head hard to raise up
Recommended it? Yes

This standing mixer was a Christmas gift to be two years ago. I haven't used it for heavy duty baking and it is still in good condition. I liked the many settings though they don't seem to be adequately named. If a recipe says to "cream" something and I set it to the "cream" setting, it is WAY to... Read full review »

Designed to fail

byswamp-woman Mar 7, 2008
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Overall design
Cons Tilt mechanism is unwieldy and undependable
Recommended it? No

I was ecstatic to find the Heritage design. It is almost identical to the one my mum-in-law received as a wedding gift in 1939, and which has been in use since then, although the stand was misplaced during a move in 1996. The ancient machine is extremely heavy and the arthritis prohibits me from... Read full review »

The Mixer that Saved the Day

bymattysgirl729 Jan 30, 2008

Pros Heavyduty motor, easily understandable, comes with 3 types of beaters & two bowls.
Cons Heavy. Like others mentioned the tilt button can be difficult.
Recommended it? Yes

I received this mixer as a wedding shower present in June of 2007 after having registered for it at Macy's. When I did my registry I knew I wanted this mixer in particular because I wanted a mixer that I would be able to walk away from while it beat or mixed in things like egg whites, which are... Pros easy to carry and use, inexpensive
Cons tilt feature, loudness, features
Recommended it? Yes

This is a great beginner's stand mixer because it has all basic settings and Sunbeam is a trusted name in the world of cooking and baking. I got this after graduating from college to start a baking career but I decided to upgrade this year because it lacked features that I desired. I love the fact... Read full review »

good, basic mixer

6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros attractive easy to use performs well
Cons hard to release beaters
Recommended it? Yes

I bought a Sunbeam because I loved the retro look and I also loved the price - only $130 for 450 watts which was more wattage than the comparable KitchenAid at a much better price. The mixer does a good job for cookies, cakes, muffins, or dough for bread. I have not used it for mashed potatoes. It... Read full review »

Tired of Trying These

bysaavyconsumer Jan 6, 2008

Pros Look nice and deceptively reliable.
Cons Not reliable.
Recommended it? No

I went through 3 of these. If you think the sunbeam is a replacement for a heavy duty workhorse, you're mistaken. All 3 of mine either broke down after 6 to 8 months, or the motor burned up. Never again. I'm buying a Kitchen Aid with some stamina. Read full review »

SUNBEAM * THE ULTIMATE MIXER

bymtnlaurl Dec 15, 2007

Pros Very heavy duty; space to add ingredients while mixing, rotating bowl; shifting bowl...
Cons Can't rotate bowl backwards, tilt release sometimes hard to work.

I learned to cook on a true vintage Sunbeam Mix Master - my mother's model from the 1950's. I grew up with it and when I got my first job in the early 1970's I bought my own stainless Mix Master. It was my first purchase for my "hope chest".

That Mix Master took me through three children... Read full review »

Pros Light, Inexpensive
Cons LOUD

My Kitchen Aid broke, and while saving up for a second one, my mother bought me the Sunbeam. My first time using it, I was surprised at how the beater actually touched the bottom of the bowl. And then I was shocked at how loud this unit is. Don't believe anyone if it says this is a quiet machine... Read full review »

Pros roomy bowl for big batches of dough, easy to clean, affordable, and is darn cute.
Cons Release button for the beaters is a bit difficult to push, especially with arthritis
Recommended it? Yes

I bought the Sunbeam 450 watt Heritage mixer recently and have been very pleased with it. I previously owned a Hamilton Beach, vintage 1968, that finally wore out and this replaces it. This Sunbeam works even better than my original mixer and is darn cute besides! (I have the red colored one and... Read full review »

failed but replaced

Pros This was the more heavy duty version with steel bowls and better mixing attachments.
Cons the drive gears stripped out after one year.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased this mixer because I wanted a heavier duty mixer than the one we regularly used and did not want one as heavy as the Kitchen-aide. We like the new version as it had a better motor yet was not too heavy to move off the counter and store away. The unit is easy to clean and operate and did... Read full review »

Pros Nice feature set. Flexible to use. Not overly expensive
Cons Tilt Release poorly designed. Overall poorly manufactured.

I bought this mixer for my wife for Christmas this year (less than 3 months ago). She asked for a mixer and was quite taken with the look of this one. She simply asked that we not spend a fortune on a Kitchen Aid model for now.

The mixer is made of die-cast metal giving the impression of... Read full review »

Not like the old ones

bythe_hat_lady Mar 7, 2007

Pros Good price
Cons Motor won't last.
Recommended it? No

I bought this to replace my Sunbeam which had lasted 23 years (and I bake all the time!) This version lasted only 14 months.

The beaters are too far from the sides to mix small amounts (like when you start with just the egg yolks before adding the sugar).

The turntable for the... Read full review »

Pros Serves it's function well.
Cons Too powerful, and noisy.

I purchased the Sunbeam Heritage 2349 Stand Mixer about two years ago at a discount store for a little more than $80. I'd always wanted a stand mixer, but wasn't about to shell out a few hundred dollars on a Kitchen Aid, especially since I'd never used a stand mixer before and I wasn't sure if it'd... The bowl slipped off of the base when kneading bread dough.

bychef_stevo Feb 20, 2007
3 Helpfuls 4 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros The price was in the lower price range of stand mixers. The motor seemed strong.
Cons The base did not keep the bowl in place when kneading bread dough.
Recommended it? No

I bought this mixer specifically for kneading bread dough. The bowl would slip off of the base as the dough started to knead. It was clear that this mixer was not going to do what I needed it for. I did not try to mix anything else with this mixer. Read full review »

Pros Great design, heavy duty construction, 2 stainless mixing bowls included, cool color,...
Cons Doesn't come with paddles for stiffer batters and dough.
Recommended it? Yes

Bought my husband (who is the baker in my family) the Sunbeam mixer for Christmas. He really likes the design and functionality of it. Bowl slides to the outside for scraping and adding ingredients. He likes the many speed options, and two different sized stainless mixing bowls that come with the... Read full review »

byidconsult Jan 5, 2007
11 Helpfuls 12 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Attractive
Cons Very noisy, defective; those with arthritis or a weak grip will hate the tilt-release.
Recommended it? No

We received this as a gift about 18 months ago.

We loved the look and feel of it, and the speed-control dial.

(By the way, those with arthritis or other hand-strength problems will NOT appreciate the force required to push the tilt-release button)

But I thought it was... Read full review »
