I own two of these machines and am experiencing paper jam problems. I tried adjusting the paper setting (thin/thick) to no avail and have varied the brand of paper. The only suggestion that Brother offered was to fan the paper before putting it in.

Pros Fast, no toner smell, fairly quiet (in comparison to an inkjet).

Cons Page curl on both the top and bottom of the page (even with 24lb)!

I just started using my Brother HL-2040, and yes, there is a distinct curl to the top and bottom of the page, i.e. the page is not flat and straight. Cons ink smell, paper curling, printing keeps getting interrupted, tray gets stuck.

This is undoubtably the Worst laser printer I have ever had the misfortune to work with. The paper curls, with the result that you have to constantly monitor the output as the printer will inevitably stop every 10 pages or so and wait for you to remove the offending page. Pros Inexpensive. Pretty fast. Small footprint.

Cons Limited non-expandable memory. Curls the printed page somewhat.

Cons High Quality (HQ) printing causes the printer to pause between pages.
