Squier: The Stratocaster On A Budget

byphoenix59 Mar 9, 2011
2 Helpfuls 3 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Made by Fender -- who would know better how to make a Stratocaster?
Cons Depending on your tastes, might need some modification.
Recommended it? Yes

The Fender Strat. The words are almost magical as they roll off the tongue. There's just something about a Strat. All of the masters have played a Strat at one time or another.
Jimi Hendrix, of course, playing his upside down. David Gilmour of Pink Floyd rarely plays anything else. Stevie Ray... Read full review »

Pros This is a good entry level guitar for a beginner.

There is certainly no shortage of entry level unknown or little known brand name guitars out there for a beginner to choose from. However, there is clearly a shortage of good recognizable brand name musical instruments that would fit into this... Read full review »

A little background on me:
I've wanted to play the guitar since I was 5, but my parents enrolled me instead in piano lessons. I've left my dream until last year, at 16, I decided that I would take my first steps to rockstardom. Having just been introduced to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, their... Read full review »

Pros Looks nice, good weight, comes with accessories eg. amp
Cons Cheap feel. rubbish tuning. unreliable

The Squire Strat is great for beginners but they better be ready to fork out money every few weeks for repairs if they don't know much about guitars. I bought this guitar quite early into my guitar tuition so didn't know too much about what to buy.

All my guitars since my first one have... Read full review »

After spending several years playing acoustic guitar, bass, and piano, I decided I wanted to play electric guitar. After all, what teenage guy doesn't wanna play lead guitar? Chicks totally dig it.

I bought it from a friend of mine. He was looking to upgrade and sold me this and a... Read full review »

Pros Classic looking guitar, easy to use for kids, affordable for parents.
Cons My son knows its not a REAL American made Fender Stratocaster.
Recommended it? Yes

Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Tony Iommi, Pete Townsend, Jimmy Page, Stevie Vai, Angus Young, Joe Satriani, my son grew up hearing me listen to all these guitar players and talk about how great their music was. After playing a Sony Playstation video game Guitar Hero, my son found for himself that he... Read full review »

Pros good looking guitar, great for the price
Cons only a beginners guitar and amp, case is not very durable

I've been playing guitar for two years now and let me tell you, this guitar fits all my needs up until now. Now, I'm not saying this in a bad way. Remember this is not a real Fender Strat but it is a Squire Strat. Squire is a division of Fender. This is a beginners guitar and seeing how it lasted... Read full review »

Never has the concept of "you get what you pay for" been better illustrated than with the Squier Strat. As a guitar teacher I have seen it's popularity sky-rocket over the past 10 years. Currently about 2 out of three of my students turn up to their first lesson with one of these instruments.

I bought this guitar recently, as my first brand new guitar, and I think that it's exceptional.

First off, the guitar itself is beautiful. It's polished to a great shine, and has the great looking pick guard that Fenders are known for. Several chrome accents and the normal dot inlay on... Read full review »

Pros Good starter guitar for a cheap price.
Cons Not great sound or construction quality. Won't stay in tune.

I bought this guitar three years ago as part of one of those starter packs. It was my first guitar, and I still own it today. I had not played any other electric guitar before my strat and therefore had nothing to compare its quality to. It sounds perfectly fine to the untrained ear, but after a... Read full review »

This is my first review. Do you know why this is my first review? Because I feel it is my obligation as a fellow guitarist to warn you of the dangers of horrible instruments.

I have been playing guitar for almost a year now. I first decided to learn to play guitar after reading "Hammer of the Gods" a book on Led Zeppelin. Squier Set Up

4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Very Good guitar for the money.
Cons Does not stay in tune very well.
Recommended it? Yes

The squier really really stinks if you are going to play it right out of the box. It has way too low action and the G and B strings are really buzzy. Take it to a professional and get it set up. tweak the action, replace the nut, tweak the bridg and pickups a bit and it plays like a "real" fender... Read full review »

Well, I bought this guitar when I was just starting and had no idea what I wanted. I didn't want to invest in an expensive guitar and wind up not enjoying playing, so I went for cheap. The Squier Strat is a great starter guitar. I enjoy coming home from school and unwinding my playing my favorite song. It fits my body excellent. First of all - this guitar is excellent for a beginner, which really is what it was manufactured for, the use of beginner players. It hasn't got a fancy look and the shape of the body is perfect for practising; it fits nicely over the thigh when you're sitting down, sitting down with the guitar's... Read full review »

I'm very glad to say that I don't own this guitar... I do know many people who do and did, the people who did using a Squier Stratocaster as their first guitar.
