Sony Headphones; Beyond Just a Listening Experience

byLajeaca Sep 21, 2000

Pros Stunning sound, folding construction, durable
Cons Not a cordless device
Recommended it? Yes

Sony?s MDR-V300 Headphones have been so neatly folded away in my stereo cabinet that I almost forgot that I owned them. Unfortunately, I have been robbing myself of memorable musical listening experiences for the last eight or nine months by not having them out and listening to them.

Sony MDR-V300 Headphones: "Now Hear This"

byGr8ful Jan 23, 2005

Pros 10' cord, cheap price
Cons uncomfortable, cheap quality
Recommended it? No

My wife decided out-of-the-blue one day about three months ago to get a new puppy. She is a cute little Boston Terrier that gets into your heart faster than a child into a Christmas gift. She loves to play and is very active. Unfortunately for me, my wife has not taught her that chewing daddy's... Read full review »

Knob Twiddling

Pros Sound pretty good - quite comfortable
Cons The headband is a little flimsy
Recommended it? Yes

Sometimes, when Mrs P toddles off to sleepy-slumber-land, and I'm left all on my lonesome twiddling my thumbs, I take the urge to twiddle something else.
That's right, I twiddle my knob.

Thanks to modern technology, it's now possible to twiddle my knob to the point of no return... Read full review »

Sony MDR-V300 heaphones - a quality almost-pro headphone

Pros Long, thick cord, excellent sound, comfortable
Cons Cord might be too long and unwieldy for traveling
Recommended it? Yes

Every single MP3 player and every single tape or CD player comes with a set of earbuds or headphones. And without a doubt, the quality is about as good as a placing a tin can against your ear. And they usually feel about as comfortable. But for whatever reason, I can't seem to throw them away, so I... Read full review »

Please father...oh please father..hear my confession. It has been thirty years since my last confession....but I am so racked with guilt. I can no longer carry the burden of my crime on my own; therefore I turn to you for absolution and sanctification. Please...I will say five hundred Hail Marys; a... Read full review »

BOOM! BOOM! Out go the V300's

Pros None
Cons Overboosted bass, mediocre comfort
Recommended it? No

I had previously written an opinion titled One of the best low-priced Sony headphones in years! But after listening to more expensive headphones from other brands, I feel ripped off. The Sony MDR-V300's are labeled "Studio Monitor" Headphones, but are nowhere near neutral in performance.

Pros Looks good, sounds good, unimatch plug, good price for what quality it gives.
Cons At first it is uncomfortable, but later it's no problem.
Recommended it? Yes

I have been looking for headphones for a while. I have a Sony Streetstyle pair but they're the lightweight cheap kind of headphones. I wanted to see what kind of quality I would get with Stereo Headphones. BIG difference.

The Sony MDR-V300 Stereo Headphones are about $60 but this is... Read full review »

Well worth it, and versatile!

Pros Lightweight, great overall sounds, clear crisp bass, versatile, comfortable, affordable.
Cons None that I can think of.
Recommended it? Yes

Picked these up about a year ago, strictly as personal headphones for my discman, and was impressed immediately. Clean, crisp bass, and damn, they get loud, even with the discman.

They have great earcups that aren't too large, but large enough to drown out all but the loudest noise. Very... Read full review »

Pros Another quality Sony product; great sound & comfort
Cons Huge design flaw; they break way too easily...other than that, no complaints.

INTRODUCTION

To start things off, let me explain why I bought the Sony MDR-V300 headphones. I had just purchased the Sony Walkman D-CJ500 portable CD/MP3 player, and was not very satisfied with the shoddy headphones that came with it. They distorted when there was small amounts of bass,... Read full review »

Pros None
Cons Uncomfortable, low quality junk.
Recommended it? No

I purchased these headphones about one week ago using an unnamed on-line auction. I paid $22 including shipping charges from southern California. They replaced a set of Sony MDR-V6 headphones that I have had for at least seven years. I loved the V6 headphones. They had excellent frequency response,... Read full review »
