Pros Foldable, case, comfortable, long cord, and the sound.
Cons Expensive, could feel a bit sturdier, adapter can get lost.
Recommended it? Yes

Alright everyone, here's the story... It was my twentieth birthday (or Christmas, I don't remember) and my mom wanted to get me a present. For the first time in my life she said that we could just go out to the mall and I could pick something I wanted instead of her buying me something random that... Read full review »

Pros Crystal Clear, Comfortable
Cons Difficult to return to case; Case often rips
Recommended it? Yes

I originally bought these headphones when I was in the army because I lived in an open barracks with rows of bunk beds and no privacy. I used them to block out conversations and to relax and they worked wonderful. and due to the flexibility of the phones I often fell asleep with them on.

I can't believe these are replacements for the venerable MDR V6!

Pros None, except comfort and blocks out ambient room/environment noise.
Cons Poor sonic performance for the price
Recommended it? No

I've owned a pair of Sony MDR V6's for a long time - possibly 8+ years and have been thoroughly happy with them for the price. They are comfortable, good sonic performance, fold to a fairly compact package and have survived a lot of business travel and the abuse that results from business travel... Read full review »

Pros Good sound, folds to a compact unit, gold plated jacks, good padding for comfortable wear...
Cons Higher price than some, needs a higher powered stereo system to bring out the best.

The Sony MDR-V600 headphones... Well let's see...

Price: About $100 at the time I bought mine in 1996, I am not certain that they are still that high, but I would think that they are in that range still. I thought at the time that it was money well spent, and still do to this day.

Pros They Fold. Seem Sturdy. Did I mention they fold?
Cons Horrible on any source < $2000. Muddy, cluttered, not transparent. Doesn't come...

To tell you the truth, I was extremely confused when I first visited the epinions product page for the MDR-V600. I had purchased a pair of these 7 years ago and returned them within the same week. Wanting to see what all the fuss was about, I purchased another pair just last week in an effort to... Read full review »

I have owned several top-rated headphones over my 7 years of DJing and studio work, and can say with certainty that the Sony MDR-V600 heaphones are BY FAR the best value for the money. Their frequency response is excellent, bass is tight and highs are crystal clear. I've never noticed any... Read full review »

Pros comfortable, good price, great sound quality
Cons a little heavy
Recommended it? Yes

I bought my Sony MDR-V600 headphones about 2 years ago. These 'phones sound great for the price. I listened to 10 -12 different headphones from various manufacturers and finally chose these. When comparing, I found that the sound quality of the V600's was matched only by much higher priced units... Read full review »

Average midline headphones

Pros They don't completely suck
Cons Not worth more than 30-40 bucks.
Recommended it? Yes

I bought these thinking they would be a good update to the venerable Sony MDR-V6. Boy was I wrong.

The MDR-V600 are big on bass, too much so for my taste. The bass seems overdone and excessive. The mid levels seem lacking and stifled, feels like I'm listening through a layer of cotton... Read full review »

I have never been one to wear headphones...
people look idiotic with those huge muffs on
their ears... I always went for the $10 mini
in-your-ear headphones (I didn't know what
I was missing).

One day at work I forgot my headphones and
"barrowed" a pair of the SONY... Read full review »

Sony Camcorder/Audio MDR-V600 STUDIO MONITOR HEADPHONES

MDRV600 Studio Monitor Headphones with folding design & reversible earcups for single-side monitoring. MODEL: MDR-V600 VENDOR: SONY ELECTRONICS INC FEATURES: Studio Monitor Series Headphones Studio Monitor Series Headphones incorporate high-end materials and advanced engineering; critically clean exceptionally clear sound for professional and high fidelity applications. Circum-Aural Earcup Design in the natural shape of the human ear positions the driver unit at a correct distance from the ear canal and creates a sealed resonance chamber over the earlobe itself reducing pressure on the ear for a more comfortable fit especially during extended listening sessions. 40mm Aura-Nomic Designed Driver Unit is positioned within the earcup at an angle which directly corresponds to the angle of the opening of the ear canal for the most natural listening experience possible. Neodymium Magnet is small yet five times more powerful than a ferrite magnet of comparable size to provide a better headphone without increasing the overall size and weight of the driver unit; The stronger the magnet used to provide the return energy of the voice coil and diaphragm the more accurate the driver unit will be in reproducing the entire sound spectrum. Copper-Clad Aluminum Wire (CCAW) Voice Coil combines the strength and conductivity of a copper core with a lightweight outer coating of aluminum to expand and contract as electrical impulses pass through it creating the physical movement of the diaphragm. Folding Design with supplied carrying case offers the convenience of easier portability. Reversible Earcups for Single-Side Monitoring to let vocalists and musicians hear external surrounding sounds naturally while simultaneously listening through one side of the headphones. Cushioned Headband adds to wearing comfort and a better overall fit. Concealed Single-Sided Cord contributes to wearing convenience. Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) Connecting Cord is highly conductive for maximum signal transmission
