Decent after fiddling with them
These are rather interesting headphones in that they took a lot of fiddling in order to actually figure out how to wear them, effectively.
I'll say this right off: These seem to be designed to do their best while listening to something through them, not for total silence (Which is fine...

Bo--o-o-gus
Avoid these. Touted as noise canceling, they do no better than any well-sealing earbud, and they fit poorly for most people to boot. Sony engineers seem to have missed the point that the human ear canal faces rearward. The way these turkeys are designed, the L shaped boom gets in the way of the... Read full review »
Makes more noise than it cancels.
There is absolutely no noise cancellation effect for normal annoying audio sounds like other peoples televisions or music. To prove this I turned on the television while listing to music from my ipod. I then repeatedly turned on and off the noise cancellation function of the Sony ear buds. There... Read full review »

Noise reduction... well, kind of
I bought my set of earbuds to go with my iPod on my morning commute on the train (and a 10-15 minute walk on either side of the train). They work decent for me in my situation. I'm just looking to drown out the ambient noise of the commuters around me and the noise of the train itself. These... Read full review »
Excellent Buy.
I am a musician (professional) and I travel by air a great deal of the time. I have had the Bose, Etymotics, and Senn. earphones. While I enjoy my Etymotics a great deal- on occasion they don't block out everything. I have found the Sony to be small, and what it lacks in the bass range it more than... Read full review »
It Better Fit, Or Else...
Are you confused by the polar opposite reviews you see everywhere about these little earbuds? Some people say they sound tinny with weak bass, while others say they have overpowering bass and weak highs. Some people say these earbuds don't do any noise-cancelling, while others say they block out... Read full review »
They work great for me. I love them.
I don't know what everyone is complaining about. These Sony ear buds are the greatest thing to ever come along for me. Perhaps these people are not getting the correct fit for their ears.
For me, they seal in my ears perfectly and have full, rich dynamic sound. They have great bass with...

Very comfortable, good sound quality, but overpriced.
I purchased a set of Sony's MDR-NC11 noise-cancelling earbuds approximately four months ago, and have been using them extensively ever since. I purchased them because I was looking for small yet high-quality headphones that I could easily carry around with me. Sony's list price for them is $149,... Read full review »
Compact noise reduction, but do not excel at anything
I will concur with those that give a more lukewarm review on these headphones.
Whether you keep them or run back to demand a refund will merely depend on how much you value the ability to have noise reducing (let's fool not anyone: these do not *cancel* noise) earbuds that are very...
