Pros Small form factor
Cons 2 different flavors are confusing to end-users, and much better formats (Compactflash)...
Recommended it? No

Ok, someone tell me why they developed another format for digital devices? And why has Sony made it seemingly proprietary?

Ok, 64MB that's the size of a stick of gum. I can live with that. But WHY is only Sony selling these?

Better yet, riddle me this: WHY have they even WASTED... Read full review »

Pros Versatility
Cons Huge investment to follow
Recommended it? Yes

Sony Memory Stick is truly exciting technology. Memory Stick was first brought to my attention with the purchase of the Sony Cyber-shot digital camera. The camera came with a 8mb Memory Stick capable of holding anywhere from 5 to 118 images depending on the resolution. Not only can it capture still... Read full review »

In the future perfect: Sony's memory stick

Pros Small portable format that works in a variety of Sony devices
Cons Expensive, easily lost device that only works in Sony devices
Recommended it? Yes

Summary: Universally known as the chewing-gum-sized memory device, Sony's memory stick may ultimately die an ignoble Beta-like death, but early adopters and dead media fans everywhere should be flocking to this format.

How's that for long winded?

The Memory stick, for those of you... Read full review »

Great digital media

Pros Supersmall size lets you pack plenty of them...
Cons ...if you're made of money. You can also lose them supereasy.
Recommended it? Yes

The 128 MB Memory Stick practically requires payment plans to afford it, unless $240 MSRP is a drop in the bucket for you. If you know anyone going to Japan, ask them to pick one up for you--you'll save about $70 by going that route. And if you're apt to lose small items, you might want to get out... Read full review »

Pros Durable, small, lightweight, and more versatile than the competition
Cons Currently limited to 64 MB max, primarily used by Sony
Recommended it? Yes

I own a digital camera (see my review on the Sony DSC-S70) that uses the Sony Memory Stick technology... I believe that I took one step further than most people and seriously evaluated the digital media that I was going to store my valuable pictures on. I will explain the conclusions that I came to... Pros Small Can be used in a variety of Sony Devices Available from other companies
Cons VERY expensive Only available up to 128 MB
Recommended it? No

I must admit that I do like the Sony memory stick due to the fact that it is so versatile and that I can use it in my friends VAIO, dad's video camera and my Digital Still Camera (Sony- P5- See my review). What I don't like it the massive price difference for this media compared to other formats-... Read full review »

Memory Stick...a small flat storage media a little smaller than a stick of gum. Sizes are 4Mb, 8Mb, 16Mb, 32Mb, 64Mb, and 128Mb. And more sizes are on the way.

What can you do with it? Just about anything. Memory Stick is being used in a wide variety of Sony products. Digital Cameras,... Read full review »

Sony is not the only producer

Pros Small, other companies now produce the same product thus competitive pricing
Cons Typically Sony has 6 month lead on the market when a better version comes out
Recommended it? Yes

Sony is not the only producer of the memory stick. Now we have Lexmark and Sandisk competeing in the market. As a result we have seen the list price for the 128MB Sony Memory stick fall from $140 to $89.

Now here is the secret that Sony does not want you to know about. All of the memory... Read full review »

Sony's marketing steamroller is effective, specially with first-time buyers of digital cameras who are often not aware of better alternatives.
