Pros 3.5 floppy goes into any computer, delete bad pics, good 16x zoom
Cons bulky, to short of battery life, confusing sometimes, bad spot for wide angle/zoom control
Recommended it? No

I very much enjoy taking the pics and deleting the ones that are terrible. most of the functions are easy to learn but there are some that I just dont understand. The 15 sec movie thing is just about worthless.
I have never bought the memory stick because of the price and i dont think the... Read full review »

Pros Great picture quality, instant gratification! Lots of bells and whistles!
Cons disk compacity, photo lag time.
Recommended it? Yes

You'll love this if you have kids, and your kids will love being able to see their pictures instantly!

There are so many things about this camera that I just love, so I think I'll start with the few things I think could be improved. There is definitely a lag time when taking pictures. You... Read full review »

Pros Uses floppy disk, battery life, simple to use.
Cons size, no case
Recommended it? Yes

instead of wasting money on cheaper cameras. Okay, I'm a tightwad, I thought I could find something that worked well for less money. After 2 el cheapo cameras, both of which were huge disappointments, I shelled out for the Sony. I love it. I'm an amateur at this and I could use it right out of the... Read full review »

Good Camera.

Pros Many options. Clear pictures.
Cons When you push the button and the actual time it takes the picture lags.Bulky.
Recommended it? Yes

I got this camera as a present. Personally I probably wouldn't buy a digital camera myself. Reason being is that I have taken photography courses for over 3 years and even had my own darkroom in my house. My point is that with a manual 35mm camera your options are endless. You can set the aperture,... Read full review »

Great Camera

Pros Camera is so user friendly. Has all the options.
Cons None. Well an extra battery sure wouldn't hurt.
Recommended it? Yes

I purchased the Sony Mavica FD-90 camera to replace my old model FD-7. I thought the FD-7 was good but after using the FD-90, there is no comparison. The camera can be used for so many different things, and the picture quality is just fantastic. The use of the high density (floppy) disc makes... Read full review »

Buy a lot of floppies, you'll need them

byvacuum Apr 18, 2001
2 Helpfuls 3 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Uses ordinary cheap floppies to store high quality pictures
Cons A floppy only stores a few photos, Memory stick option is expensive.
Recommended it? Yes

I really like the MVC-FD90's ability to save pictures to floppy disk. We often go for days between times that pictures get uploaded to the net for storage and printing, and I can't even imagine needing to go back to a computer regularly to save files off to a hard disk.

On the minus side,... Read full review »

Convenient - but not for everybody

Pros Diskette storage, long battery life, quick recharge
Cons Bulky, shot lag time, limited image storage, viewfinder washes out in sun
Recommended it? No

The beauty of this camera is storing the images on floppy disks (memory sticks optional). This allows anybody at any computer with a floppy drive the ability to instantly access the photos without having to preload software.

However, there is a limit to how many images you can store on... Read full review »

I received the Sony Mavica FD-90 for Christmas this year and I can't believe I waited so long. I love this camera! Digital good, FD90 almost bad

byboxinqueen Jan 29, 2001

Pros Digital, regular 3.5" floppy disks, easy to use
Cons Red eye reduction, daytime outside shots, blurry action photos
Recommended it? No

I actually went to purchase a Sony digital in the $500 range, but opted for the more advanced FD90. I chose Sony over the others since you can use regular 3.5" floppy disks which are very inexpensive.

I've owned this product for approximately 5 months now and I'm fairly happy with... Read full review »

Pros Floppy drive; easy of use; loaded with options
Cons Some menus are difficult to navigate
Recommended it? Yes

Normally, I would not spend this kind of money on a camera, digital or not. I am a point-and-shoot kind of photographer. After a friend brought an earlier version of the Mavica to my son's birthday party, I decided I needed to do some more research.

Even though it is loaded with options,... Read full review »

bynTop Nov 27, 2000
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros large, bright LCD, video and audio capabilities
Cons limited space and slow transfer speed of media
Recommended it? Yes

Many users like floppies because they're familiar and offer a cable-free PC interface, which is uncommon in digital cameras. But floppy disks provide limited storage space and require an unacceptably long delay while an image is saved. Although the Mavica MVC-FD90 writes images to floppies four... Read full review »

Go Sony!

bymarinky Nov 24, 2000
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros easy to use
Cons constantly having to re-charge the battery
Recommended it? Yes

The main reason for choosing a Sony Mavica was that I had used the FD-73 in the past at work and liked it. I knew I wanted a Sony Mavica, but perhaps a newer version. With the advent of the FD-90, I knew I had found what I wanted. And, I am quite pleased with it.

I have had a very... Read full review »

The Sony Mavica line of digital cameras are just awesome. This is my 3rd digital camera. You can read my epinions on the Agfa 1280, and the Sony Mavica FD-83. I upgraded to the FD-90 from the FD-83 because #1 it has a big league zoom (not a rinkydink one like the 83), #2 it is memory stick ready which enables this camera to take hundreds of pictures...
