This is my 3rd one !!!
Sony keeps replacing mine because when i bought it NEW way back when it was almost $5,000, now it's worth MAYBE $50. The lamps keep blowing, the chips keep blowing, the mirrors get dusty and the lamps burn out. These TVs SUCK !!!!!!!! I absolutely HATE mine because once again it stopped working !!! The Sony That Made Me Buy a Sharp AQUOS
After 30 years of buying and loving Sony TVs, my KF-50XBR800 was my last. A month after the warranty expired I started seeing a red shadow next to dark colored objects. Adjusting the sharpness controls from auto to #3 seemed to help, but after another few months that no longer solved the problem. I... Read full review »
Great TV for HD - boo for STD!
This television is great! I have had it for about 4 years now and have never had to change the LCD projection bulb. Picture quality on HD is crisp and clear. Picture adjustment is easy once you get the hang of the controls. The unit itself is nice to look at. I wish the side speakers were removable... Read full review »
Very good HDTV for it's era
This TV has a very sharp image, but compared to the new sets it's color is a little lacking. Watching the World cup on ESPN HD was pretty amazing. Also watching baseball on INHD.
The TV is a little outdated by only having on DVI imput and no cable card slot.
I still like this TV...

Sony Grand Wega 50"
DLPs versus LCD?
For best value, I thought the LCD and DLP proj tvs offered the best price/performance. At the time I bought mine (2 months ago) the price delta between LCD and DLP was about $1K - DLP being higher. One of the key drawbacks of LCD is that the black levels aren't that black...

Great for DVDs
This thing is incredible. I can't believe its projection. There is really a difference in the picture quality of projection T.V.s. I guess you get what you pay for.
The picture quality is really so clear that you couldn't tell this was a projection T.V.

This LCD, 50' flat screen is awesome
I shopped alot and decided to spend the extra money for this Sony Grand Wega KF-50XBR800 Projection TV. I couldn't be happier. The features like the Memory Stick viewer, easy connection to my Sony camcorder, Twin View and Scrolling Channel Index are super. With Direct-TV, in High Def, the picture... Read full review »
A safe purchase at a reasonable price for those wanting bleeding edge technology
First let me say that the LCD projection has been around a lot longer for those of us giving presentations than it has on home TV systems. I have been using a LCD projector for about 5 years without a hiccup. The point is that this technology is stable.
The picture is very bright,...

Just Call Me Mrs. Couch Potato - I love my 50" SONY XBR
We had been in our new house about a year when my husband started looking at t.v.'s that would be viewable in our large but empty family room. I thought yikes - a 50 inch, $3200 t.v. -- is this a bit much? Will anyone ever watch this thing?
Besides, I am of the belief that there are two...

Really like the LCD projection...
Really like the LCD projection (Clear, corner to corner) and the built in TruSurround system is Awsome. I purchased it Dec. 2002. Highly recommend this TV if you are looking for Fine Quality and is less than 17" front to back depth. It has all the features I was looking for. Sony Grand Wega really... Read full review »
