At just $380, the MD500 is a great value. In fact, I think the system would have been worth this much without a minidisc player. Mediocre system, they could do better
My parents got this for Christmas this year, so I haven't had too much experience with it, but I have had enough to know how it works and know how it performs.
The sound is decent, I'd say exactly average for a mini system. With a $600 price tag, I'd expect a little more though.
