Pros Compact, light, very easy to use
Cons Requires Sony's battery pack You are almost required to buy upgraded memory stick...
Recommended it? Yes

I did a lot of research to purchase a new camera. This site was one of them. I decided on Sony after talking to a service guy at BestBuy and he said Sony was one of the least returned digital cameras for defects/problems.

Then I narrowed it down from the 5.0MP to the 3.2MP. The only... Read full review »

Pros compatibility with other Sony products
Cons reliability, warranty policy, and service
Recommended it? No

The flash bulb burst in our DSC-P8 after having it for just over two months. It was under warranty; however, we went without the camera for exactly a month while it was mailed between Best Buy and the Sony service center. Apparently, Sony digital cameras and other Sony products have more components... Read full review »

Pros takes great pictures. compact. easy to use.
Cons battery life could be better. wish it came with more than a 16mb card.
Recommended it? Yes

I'm just an amateur that enjoys taking candid shots of friends, family and the outdoors. And I must say I really enjoy this camera.

The 16mb included is pretty small. That's my biggest gripe. I've had no problems with the placement of the macro button, as another reviewer reported. The... Read full review »

Good Starter Digital Camera But Just Not Quite Enough For The Shutterbug In You

Pros 3.2 MP, Ease of use, LCD Screen, Sony's build quality
Cons 16 MB Memory Stick inadequate in a bad way
Recommended it? Yes

I bought this camera in Qatar while on R&R during Operation Iraqi Freedom cause I was sick of paying for film. I bought the camera for $279 and I actually at the time thought it was a somewhat of a bargain. The camera has a lot of features some of which the beginner digital photographer will never... Pros Features, ease of use, great software, quality of images, size, weight
Cons Recycle time
Recommended it? Yes

After doing plenty of research, I went with a Sony and I am extremely happy with my choice. I upgraded to a Lexar 256MB memory stick and that's all you really need. You can do mpegs and even play them back with sound!!
The only bad thing I would mention is the recycle time isn't great if you... Read full review »

Pros Picture quality, rechargeable battery, ease of use.
Cons Expensive memory sticks.
Recommended it? Yes

This is a great camera for the price. It's extremely easy to use while offering several "bells and whistles." If you are looking for a moderately priced digital camera this is the one for you! I spent several hours online researching cameras before deciding on the Sony Cyber-shot series and... Read full review »

The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P8, Small But it Packs a Punch!

Pros Nice photos and movies!
Cons No diopter correction on the optical viewfinder and memory stick too small!
Recommended it? Yes

The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P8 is very similar to the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P72 Digital Camera though it is slightly smaller then the small Cyber-Shot DSC-P72 Digital Camera. This is a handy pocket point and shoot digital camera with the ability to record some decent movies.

With its 3.2... Read full review »

Good, but not best in class

byconsumerdude Jun 25, 2003

Pros Unlimited MPEG movie length, compact, burst 2 mode
Cons expensive memory stick format, stupid macro button placement, not true 640x480 MPEG
Recommended it? No

OVERALL
I like the camera, but 2 annoyances really keep me from giving the camera 4 stars. In fact, they are so severe that they bump it down to the 1 or 2 star range. I bought the camera for its MPEG-VX 640x480 movie mode, so more on that later.

I'll guess that most of the readers... Read full review »

A very nicely performing, compact, sleekly styled digicam

bylsuavecito May 15, 2003

Pros Very good picture quality, pocket sized, easy to use, 3X optical zoom
Cons Lack of case, meager 16 meg stick, price, voice feature(stills)not functional
Recommended it? Yes

The Sony P-8 does what it is designed to do; take good photos without one's need of a Physics degree. I bought the P-8 a week ago, after checking Canon & Olympus, because I liked the go anywhere shirt pocket size and its various features. This digicam really takes good, sharp pictures, even at the...
